Ergobaby or Tula carriers - comparison needed!

Hi all, would people recommend Ergobaby or Tula? Specifically Ergobaby 360 cool air mesh and Tula explore coast.
I want to be able to carry baby front and inward facing through all seasons, on quite long walks and to be able to work out carrying baby hence the cooler versions of each.
Both similar price so just wondering what people preferred/found more comfortable. She's currently 6 weeks so would be investing in one for a long use.

These are the two I have been looking at too! Sorry no advice but interested to see what others have to say. I struggled with a sling with my first but now expecting second and think it will make my life much easier .

I can't give you a comparison I'm afraid but just bought the ergobaby 360 mesh and it's lovely, lightweight but feels very sturdy and I love wearing it x

I have had the ergo 360 (but the not breathable one) it was comfortable but only if you got the Velcro band tight enough otherwise it would slip which was annoying. I did struggle with the Ergo with the rear clip between your shoulders.

I also have a standard Tula and we loved this (DD was older than 6 weeks)! I still use it now for her (she is 2), thought I would use the Ergo for longer but really fell out of favour for me.

I also loved the connecta (got it secondhand) - I could put it and take it off myself. I did move over the the Tula once DD got bigger and wore her on my front and back.

I also still use the ring sling which is a quick one to get on and off in a rush - both my children loved this! Also carry DD in it still.

Thanks for the discount tip! Will have a look 😊

I haven’t tried the Tula but we have the ergobaby one and it’s one of the best things we bought. We used it loads for walks when she was little. Now at 10 months MIL still uses it to get DD to nap and I use it back carry to cook dinner if she’s not happy to play on the floor.

Once you get the back of putting it on alone it’s really great (top tips buckle the shoulder strap in front of you and put it over your head with the sides loose then pop baby in and tighten the sides) there are videos on YouTube I watched that really helped.

We have the ergo.
Have to say it’s very ‘average’ for me.

We have had the ergo omni 360 and the ergo embrace from birth. I have tried to use both from then. However the ergo embrace won hands down when he was smaller, I just couldn’t get the omni 360 comfy whilst he was small, it just seemed too thick fabric and straps.

He’s now 12 months, and I have switched to the ergo omni now the last 2 months and it seems to work better now he’s bigger. However, I find I’m off balance and it isn’t comfy with him forward facing, so I only ever use forward if it’s just for 5-10 mins for him to look at something. Otherwise to actually walk with him it’s always onwards facing or on back now.
So I would go with the non forward facing option if I chose again as it has less bully fabric around legs so lighter and easier to carry, and less bulky with younger baby. They can see fine facing inwards as they just look sideways, and nap then also

I’m chucking in a curve ball here. We used a Me Tai wrap until DS was 18 months. It was used for lots of walks up mountains in the south of France and Spain during a heatwave. DS was fine, we were both fine. It was made of a cotton cloth type material so breathed well which meant we didn’t feel too sweaty. It worked well for both of us as it’s a wrap (but with a structured bit for DS) so fitted both of us. At 18 months I swapped to a Tula Toddler which I still use (DS now 4.5 - so not very often!). The Tula has been fab. Again it’s been used for daily transport as well as for long walks and mountains.

I have a stretchy wrap and an Ergo baby 360 cool mesh. I much prefer the stretchy wrap. I find the strap that goes across the top of your back on the ergo baby (where your bra strap goes) is too thin and this makes it quite uncomfortable to wear for more than a few minutes once your baby is a little bigger (6 months +). My DP found it the same and no amount of adjusting the straps fixed the problem for us.

Do you have a local sling library/consultant? Or friends whose slings you could try on? They’re quite individual and it would be a good idea to try before you buy.

FWIW I loved my Tula!

Stressedtoddlermum · 24/05/2021 21:01

Not heard of the other one but I really hated the ergo. May have just been DD but I found it so bulky, she hated it and I felt like she was always too low no matter what we tried she never seemed to be in a comfortable position. Forward facing or facing onwards! The newborn insert feels huge too.

We just used the cheap fabric sling instead which she got on with much better. I’m having twins and I’m just going to stick to using that for a while if I need to tie one to me.

I’d say it’s best to go to a sling library if you can find one, as what suits your baby may be different to what others recommend: Smile
