Chewing 4 year old

I think my 4 year old DD chews for comfort and I'm not sure whether to get her a teether again. I bought her a new sports beaker today and the top is already misshapen from chewing, she also bites her nails and puts stuff in her mouth like toy animals etc. She generally does it when she's relaxing and does it more if she's feeling anxious. She used a particular teether for this until she lost it last year and at the time I didn't replace it as I thought she was getting to old for it but since she's just been using other items instead.

She gets anxious around change and a few other things but is getting better at expressing her feelings which I hope will help as she gets older.

My youngest chewed everything until he was a lot older than 4 - probably stopped at 7 or 8 if I remember rightly. He does have sensory processing issues but nothing extreme (sleep was an issue from babyhood and remains do at 10, though he has strategies now, handwriting and other fine motor tasks are impacted somewhat).

Anyway its a really common issue and there's chewable jewellery for all age groups if you want to avoid baby teethers.

Thank you, I didn't know anything like that existed.

You're very welcome - there are lots of other places you can buy similar, including Amazon.

My DS is 5 and chews when he is tired. He was absentmindedly putting lego in his mouth so I bought some chew things like the above from Amazon. I searched for sensory chew toys. I think l they are often used by children with autism or sensory processing issues.

Yes chew jewellery. I bought some for DS and he didn’t use them for long but seemed to help! Haven’t had a chewed too since I bought the jewellery.
