Hi anybody got any ideas, my 5&1/2 ds is still wearing nappies on a night nad they are still soaked through, and sometimes the bed. I've tried lifting him late at night, and even if he does do a wee, he is still wet in the morning. he is not bothered, does seem interested. my 2nd ds was out of nappies for he was 4. he got a treat for being dry etc, but no matter what i try to bribe older ds with just doesnt seem to make a difference. i just ignore it and carry on, i dont make a fuss if the bed is wet or the nappy is wet. will he just twig like the other one? or should i start waking twice a night? any ideas please

my ds is 5.3 and up until 3 weeks ago was the same as yours. Then all of a sudden he was dry - it was nothing we did(although we do lift him when we go to bed), it just happened.
I wouldn't worry too much, my nephews were both 6 before they were dry and I think advice is not to see docs until they're seven

same here dd is 5.5 and sometmes end up with wet bedding as well as soaked nappy. She cried when her younger sister no longer had to wear night nappies. I guess I'm giving it another 6 months before I go to the gp, she does sometimes have dry nappies but very rare. I think my dd is a deep sleeper so that is part of her problem.

My advice would be to hang in there. IMHO lifting doesn't help their bodies learn and it causes disturbed sleep. My son is over 6 1/2 and this is the first week we have had all dry nights in ages.

It is not seen as an issue until they are over 7. There is a hormone that needs to kick in to enable them to be dry and this generally happens between aged 2 and 7.
I have a 7yo who is still wet at night. He is under the enuretic clinic but not much is being done. We are just trying to regulate his drinks and hope it happens naturaly.

My eldest is 6.5 and the GP says there is no concern yet. Its annoying, but not the end of the world. My youngest (3) is dry at night! My big concern is we are going on a 6 month round the world trip in a year's time and if he is not dry, nappies will be a nightmare. Getting hold of something that will be big enough for him (we use the pyjama pants) will be virtually impossible in many countries and I can't fill the suitcases with enough for 6 months!

DS2 potty trained himself at 18 months - he is a very headstrong child. Was not going to wear a nappy cos DS1 didn't. So here is me thinking I have got it in the bag! (He rode a bike without stabilisers at 3 because the older children in our road and DS1 didn't need them) but could we get him dry at night - gosh it was a problem. DS1 dry day and night from 2.5 all in one go, but DS2 - I used to dread going in to him on a morning knowing that there would be wet sheets.

We would restrict drink intake - none after 6.00pm and always took him to the loo before we went to bed. He seemed to go into such a deep sleep he was not aware of wanting to go the toilet. Even when we took him he would be sat there asleep and we had to prop him up.

DS2 just turned 8 and it has only been the last six months that we have not had many accidents.

I think it is just one of those things that wil have to run its course.

hi, thanks for all your replies. i think its more common than i realise. i try not to worry, but i suppose thats my job!!
will continue to leave it and let nature run its course. he does sleep much deeper than my younger son. so hopefully will be just be time thing.
