Are there any vitamins for toddlers that don't taste foul?

As recommended, I'm giving my daughter a syringe of vitamin supplements (A, C and D3) every day now she's turned 12 months and is having less than 500ml of formula (we still haven't weaned onto cow's milk yet).

I noticed she wasn't enjoying the taste so tried a drop myself and it's horrible, a really strong unpleasant taste!

Are there any brands that are tasteless or is this something she'll just have to get used to every day for the next four years?!

We use these and they’re very slightly sweet but perfectly pleasant and DD has it straight from the syringe with her breakfast.

I think just keep them going. It’s good for her to know that medicine doesn’t taste good. I’m pretty sure the rank tasting vitamins we give DS is why he can now take oral antibiotics without too much fuss.

We put them in milk when she drank it and now we put them in her porridge or a yoghurt.

With dc1 we syringed it into a little fruity yoghurt which worked fine and then milk after that. With dc2 we just put it into his morning milk. Both weirdly seemed to like their milk better with it in and dc1 used to get excited for his ‘vitamin milk.’ I use the well baby vitamin as it is the best one we have found for the levels; it is strong but easily disguised.

AWryGiraffe · 12/05/2021 20:29

We use Natures Aid, put them in her morning milk or she will take them off the syringe - only 1ml so easily downed

MeadowHay · 12/05/2021 20:31

We use the Wellbaby liquids that you put in their milk, DD has always drank it fine without issue.

I bought the 3 plus gummy ones and chopped them into the slivers with the kitchen scissors

Megan2018 · 12/05/2021 20:33

My DD wolfs down Abidec straight out the syringe. It smells revolting but she asks for it!

mymymy0 · 12/05/2021 20:39

Bassets soft and chewy. Just like a jelly baby

MoorGirl · 12/05/2021 20:48

Natures Aid for us, only 1ml a dose and she takes it straight out the syringe.

Doireallyneedaname · 12/05/2021 21:06

We also use Nature & Nurture and my boy loves it. He gets very excited for it every morning!

mondler · 12/05/2021 22:06

My 2 year loves abidec raspberry flavour. He takes it straight from the syringe.

calico88 · 12/05/2021 23:20

Thanks, I’m going to try Nature & Nurture. It sounds like the dose is only 0.5ml which is appealing!

It’s really good. I have it on subscription from Amazon and she really likes it. Reminds me if she hasn’t had them yet.

bakingdemon · 13/05/2021 10:26

We've always given 2yo Abidec - it smells weird but he takes it uncomplainingly because he doesn't know any different

SomeCatsLikeCheese · 13/05/2021 20:25

Mine has Haliborange syrup, which my fussy five year old likes! It’s orange flavoured so not rank. You can get it in Boots.

allthequeenshorsesandmen · 13/05/2021 20:41

I second halibrorange it's soo tasty even for adults too like myself who often has a spoonful after my 3yo has!! Lol

Same here. No fuss at all.
FoxtrotSkarloey · 13/05/2021 20:42

WellBaby liquid stirred into milk. DS has never noticed.

MargoGru · 13/05/2021 20:44

NHS healthy start vitamin drops here - pretty cheap from the chemist. They’re fake banana flavour which I find grim but 3 year old loves. And a mere 5 drops to get down.

I had those for DC1 but when DC2 was born last year, the HV had to point out they haven't been updated in line with the latest reco from Dept of Health on Vit D quantity and so, even though they have the NHS name on them, they don't actually contain enough vitamin D to meet the recommended level!

Opalfeet · 13/05/2021 22:21

Also can't believe I've only read one post for healthy start vits. If its just a c and d you want, these are ideal. 5 little drops, so easy to give. As it is we use wellbaby because it has iron in it

MargoGru · 14/05/2021 09:43

@FoxtrotSkarloey whaaat? That’s silly and such a shame. Maybe I’ll try one of the other suggestions on here. Thanks for the heads up.

FoxtrotSkarloey · 14/05/2021 10:11

@MargoGru Crazy isn't it!

Opalfeet · 14/05/2021 21:47

They have plenty of vit d in as far as I'm aware.
