Hi, any help please. My 4yr old ds is constantly wetting himself at least once a day/few times a week. He was potty trained at 2.5 and was fine until he was about 3.5. Then slowly since then the frequency of accidents have increased. Does anyone have any tips on how I can re train him. He says he’s too busy to remember to go! We do remind him frequently and he can be ok when we do that but when he’s at nursery and there’s no one reminding him constantly he has accidents. I really need to try and tackle this before school, it’s stressing me out.

My twins were similar, dry by 2.5 day and night then regressed. They wore pull ups in pre school but they came off before school. They did have accidents at school but more little dribbles than full on emptying of bladders. Lots of children have accidents in reception and the reception teacher and teaching assistant are usually very kind and caring. Try not to worry. You can also speak to your doctor and I got a referral to the local bed wetting clinic and got some good guidance. The ERIC website is also helpful. You’re doing great, it will all get sorted in the end xxx

My current three year old went through a bit if a regression, basically because he couldn't be arsed and was holding it to the last minute. He was fine before too. I think the novelty wears off and then they get caught up in the moment. We just kept promoting and telling him to go to the toilet when we thought he'd be ready. I think nursery also remind him too. Now he's slowly starting to ask again when he wants to go and we don't have to remind him anymore. I think you should ask nursery to give him reminders to get to a place where he's not having accidents anymore at least. Then build on that. I don't think it's unreasonable to remind him if he needs it currently

Thank you I will persevere, it’s just so frustrating

Might be worth contacting the school he's going to and ask how they help kids like your DD? He won't be the only one. They probably prompt for toilet visits between activities etc.

My 4 year old has recently started regressing too out of laziness or he is too busy playing and forgets sounds like something they all go through xXx we just keep reminding and asking him frequently does he need the toilet
