DS has bright red cheeks

We went for a windy (and quite cold tbh) walk along the coast this afternoon and since getting back to the warm house, my DS’s cheeks have been bright red. Could it just be that he’s a bit windswept do you think? He seems fine in himself but I’m a little worried! He’s 12 months.

He might have a bit of wind burn which is basically irritated by wind and cold. Some moisturiser should help

If there are no other symptoms then it’s most likely to be windburn I’d have thought.

Does it look like a rash? Could be slapped cheek if it does.

Windburn is rather like sunburn in appearance, put some soothing cream on it (I would use lansinoh) and see how he is tomorrow.

Teething possibly?

Thanks all. Yes it looks like sunburn in appearance. The strange thing is he was fine when out - it was only when we got back in the house that his cheeks looked very red.

I don’t actually have any lanisoh or baby moisturiser on me. Would adult moisturiser be okay or should I just leave?

Perhaps something like olive oil probably rather than something with chemicals in?

Although it seems some think that windburn is in fact just sunburn on a cold day! www.healthpages.org/self-care/how-to-treat-windburn/
