Teething / Solids / Puree foods - trouble eating

Hi,

Our baby boy who will be turning 11 months in May, has now three teeth at the top and two at the bottom. Before teething and even during the start of teething, he always ate puree food. This could be either foods we have put together or bought of the shelf.

Now he does not what to eat puree food and so we started letting him eat e.g. cucumber, cooked lamb, fruits and other vegetables. We are now trying to get him to feed himself instead of us spoon feeding him.

However, as he no longer wants to eat puree food which he would normally have eaten a lot , his food consumption has dropped.

He has three "meals" a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. These are always around the same time in the day for routine.

So we are concerned that he is no longer eating enough nutrition and wondered if anyone could advise on what to try or is this normal during the teething period and soon pass? if so roughly how long does this period take? this is so we can look out for any problems if the period goes on longer that it should.

He still drinks his milk (200ml) 4 times a day so he is getting hydrated.

Appreciate anyone's guidance on this matter.

Thank you

TimCS

They do tend to go off food abit whilst teething.
Is he happy to eat with his fingers instead of the spoon?
I just let my LO use his fingers to encourage the grasp and introduced cutlery later.
His milk will be giving him everything he needs.

Hi

Thank you for your reply he struggles with finger food he tries one bit sometimes but then throws it away. The only finger foods he eats most of is sweet things like strawberries and some fruits and snacks.

So his healthy content is low

Is he generally happy and full after he’s ate?
Babies only need a fist size amount of food.
Throwing food on the floor is normal. Just keep offering a variety of foods and he’ll go to them eventually.
