14 month old cries whenever I try to do housework

I have a 14 month old LG who is so well behaved and as good as anything. So in that sense I feel very lucky.

But every day I get anxiety when it's time for me to do simple household jobs like wash the pots or wipe down the kitchen sides as I know she'll scream the house down. I put off the cleaning for as long as I possibly can but at some point during the day - it needs doing.

The minute I go to the kitchen sink, she's hanging off me, crying her eyes out trying to push me away and I don't understand why.

It's not the same if I try to make the bed though, she's fine if I try to do that job. It seems to be whenever I'm in the kitchen trying to clean, she hates it.

Does anyone have any advice for this please?

TIA!

My 11 mo is the same. I think she hates when I have my back to her when I’m at the sink. I get all the pots and pans out and the wooden spoon and let her bash them for a bit while I’m washing up

Thanks everyone. I would like to try and avoid using a sling if possible as I don't want to create more problems in the future as she is quite clingy as it is and I'm trying to encourage her to entertain herself. Although, no doubt she would love to be strapped to me all day

Some really good suggestions here though - I'm going to buy her a little cleaning kit and encourage her to help out with cleaning so she feels involved. I'll try the plastic bowl with soapy water too. I actually think this will work as the minute I turn around and look at her she's fine it's only when I'm trying to do things she cries.

@RainyAfternoon yes, you're quite right! I need to be more organised and set up little activities for her to do. Don't know why I never though of this tbh. I always try to remember everything is just a phase too and it's so true!

DD is still putting a lot of things in her mouth so she's not really at the stage where I can give her stickers or crayons to play with as she just wants to eat them so I have to watch her like a hawk.

But, seriously thank you so much for all your suggestions - I'll let you know how I get onGrin
