Finding some balance (separation anxiety)

DD is experiencing separation anxiety at the moment. She’s always been a little like this, but at the moment she doesn’t want to go to school, she doesn’t want to be alone at night and she wants to be with me (talk at me) all the time.

I love her company but I am completely frazzled! After spending so much time together in lockdown, I’m finding it difficult now to explain in a way she understands that I can’t listen to her every second of the day because there’s stuff that needs doing / I need a thought of my own / I don’t want to chat while I’m on the toilet Confused

Is anyone else finding this since lockdown? Any suggestions to help me encourage her to become a little more independent again (or to ease the separation anxiety) would be so helpful.

Sounds upsetting. I don't really have advice except is there anything she likes to do eg hobbies or groups that might give her a bit of confidence...? Ie swimming lessons where maybe you could watch from the side but she's doing her own thing? Sorry if that's not helpful, hopefully someone else will come along with ideas ... I suspect lockdown has made this more common.

Thanks @RebeccaNoodles

I think you’re right about clubs - I’m waiting for confirmation from a club she was going to start last Easter (!), she’s excited about it, and I’m really hoping she’ll be brave and stick with it.

She comes across as so confident and sociable, but I guess recently there’s been a lot of social interaction online with us nearby.
