10 month old - naps

Hi,

My baby is 10 months and the morning nap is becoming difficult. He has been having a 8-9 month sleep regression at night which has now somewhat improved, although he is still waking a few times in the early hours). But in general he gets about 11-12 hours at night. His lunch time nap is usually 1.5 hours if I'm lucky.

Should I persevere with the morning nap? I do think he still needs it as I know he's tired. I don't know how to get him to sleep for it other than let him fall asleep in my arms which they tell you not to do. Sometimes in desperation I put him in the buggy on a low setting and go for a walk, but I don't want to be stuck having to do this.

What time are his naps usually? My DD is coming up to 1 and has had the same routine since 8 months.

Wakes around 6/6:30
First nap: 9:30
Second nap: 2/2:30
Bedtime: 7/7:30

My 10m old is similar to PP. up about 6:30/7, first nap about 9:30/10, second nap about 3:30, bed about 7:30.

She did struggle with the nap in the morning for a week or 2 around 9 months when she was Lear I g to crawl. It's probably a developmental leap! X

A very similar routine:
Wake 7/7.30
Nap 9.30/10
Nap 1.30/2
Bath 7pm
Bed 7.30

Been loosely following the 2/3/4 awake window thing.

Maybe try extending his wake windows a little? So try putting him down at 10/10:30 and then 2/2:30?

Vicky1989x · 26/04/2021 11:59

I found the 2/3/4 didn’t work for my DD, she wasn’t tired enough after 2 hours and was way too overtired at 4 hours so I generally stick to 3-3.5 hour wake windows.
