Enormous night wees! Can anyone recommend a reusable that can cope?

I've used Bamboozles with a terry booster on DS since he was born and we love them. However, he's now 22m and every morning when he wakes up he is SOAKED through his nappy, his booster, his fluffy wrap, his babygro, his pyjamas and his sheet!

This doesn't appear to bother him (sleeps till 7, hooray) but it bothers me as my washing machine is constantly going and it's costing me a bloody fortune in electricity! I don't want to start potty training him yet as I really don't think he's ready, and he only has 5-7floz of milk before bed which has never had this effect before. So I think my best solution is to try and find a reusable that can cope! Any suggestion gratefully appreciated.

I would ty an Ella's House bumhugger. The pocket in it is huge so can be very generously stuffed and it's a hemp mix nappy so very absorbent

Minki huggles with 2 boosters (can't remember where I got them from but could search for you) have never let us down (unless we have put the nappy on wrong!)

Ooh, thanks very much, will investigate both options. I might try sticking an extra booster in tonight but am a bit worried it'll be uncomfortable for him...I can live with damp sheets but I don't want to go back to sleepless nights!

Minki huggles or the cotton tots bots in size 3 with a booster.

Washersaurus · 13/11/2007 15:30

I use tots size 3 with 2 boosters in a fleece wrap - does the job for my very heavy wetter

nappyzone · 14/11/2007 10:57

ooo yeah i second the ellas house - i have one in rotation and love it.

I use Wilkinsons microfibre cleaning cloths as boosters. About a quid for 3 in the cleaning section and they are fab.

Personally I don't get on with fleecy wraps though as I find they get wet patches. Motherease are best for us.

Also krang even if you do start potty training he prob won't be dry at night for a while after he's dry in the day. DD1 was dry days at 18 months but was about 2 before she went through the night. I just used to rinse the night nappies and wash them once a week.

Washersaurus · 14/11/2007 13:27

I meant to say that I put the boosters outside the nappy in the wrap, so as not to compromise the fit of the nappy.

I find that with fleece wraps as long as the nappy is adequately boosted we don't have a problem with wet patches. We use motherease PUL wraps in the day but would rather have something more breathable on DS for the long night time stretch.

I stuff ours with terries - her bottom looks ENORMOUS! - but it seems to work. And since she is out of them first thing into a less well stuffed one, the hugeness doesn't seem to be a problem.

another vote for Bumhuggers from me. Nothing else comes close for absorbancy for us and we've tried a fair few. They are more absorbant that disposables in my opinion and not all that bulky either.

Dodaday · 18/11/2007 09:25

I use terry nappies, boosted with another one pad folded on top at nights, with plastic pants over, and get no leaks.

krang · 19/11/2007 12:01

Yes, I know that even when we start the dreaded potty training he's likely to be wet at night for a good while, and is still in his cot anyway so I really want to get the night nappies right, as we'll be having them for a while!

I shall be ordering some options today and will report back - thanks so much for sharing tips.

Just to let you know that we are now using the size 3 tots bots plus two terry boosters and have had three nights in a row with no escaping wee! Thanks very much, everyone. I will no longer have to send DS up chimneys to pay the electricity bill.
