My daughter refuses to see her dad

My 12 year old daughter refuses to see her dad as when we were together he slapped her twice and shouted at her. When I was at work he went into her bedroom and said things to her which scared her. These are constantly in her head and she now has trouble sleeping. He says I have to force her to see him or he will take me to court, will they take her side or his side

There’s no fucking way in hell I’d be encouraging that ‘relationship’ despite the fact he’s her father.

No. You believe her and support her.

He can take you to court. She’s 12, they’ll ask for her opinion.

EscapeDragon · 23/04/2021 14:32

He has physically assaulted her. No way will any court side with him.

LadyDanburysHat · 23/04/2021 14:34

She is 12. A court will listen to her. Let him crack on.

Did you contact the police when he assaulted your daughter?
I would be telling him that he can take you to court.

CrotchetyQuaver · 23/04/2021 14:34

Let him go to court then.

Thebookswereherfriends · 23/04/2021 14:35

Let him take you to court. At 12 they will absolutely take her opinion and feelings into account and she won't be forced to see him. What a lousy excuse for a "father".

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 23/04/2021 14:41

Tell him to crack on.

They won't make her see him.

You shouldn't make her see him.

Tell her she doesn't have to see him. Let her sleep with you if she wants to. She'll stop when she's ready, it's not a big deal.

Tell the twat to fuck off & take you to court if he really thinks that they'll make her see him when he's slapped her, shouted at her, said things that scared her.. bloody bully.

FanPanCan · 23/04/2021 14:43

Let her know you've got her back. I'm in a similar situation with my dd too. There's no way I'd consider forcing her!

ImTakingTheEssence · 23/04/2021 14:45

Are you also scared of him? Coz there's no way in hell I'd let my daughter be around him. I'd say he's using court as a way to scare you, call his bluff he doesn't stand a chance.

Starhigh · 23/04/2021 14:51

I’m not scared of him, when I was with him he used to drink a lot, he is with someone else now and he says he has changed. I’m not going to force her to see him.

Err no, he needs to take steps to repair their relationship if that's possible. What's the point in forcing a 12 year old? I agree a court is likely to listen to a 12 year old who has been hit.

somersault · 23/04/2021 14:53

Let him go to court then, he will be ridiculed. I would also advise making contact with women's aid for advice, despite not being in a relationship with him they have probably dealt with very similar situations.

GrumpyHoonMain · 23/04/2021 19:01

Let him take it to court.
