Help! Have a newborn and this behaviour seems to have escalated just when I am struggling to get there first to intervene before the floor gets covered. Appreciate this is also probably at least partially why it’s happening. But how to tackle? If I tell him no he looks me square in the eye and throws with a devilish smirk. I can’t always get to him before he does it if I’m feeding the baby. It sad too as he really loves his grub and is suddenly being very picky or not eating a huge amount. I’m really trying hard to make sure he is getting 121 attention, feels involved with the baby etc and he is going to nursery a few days as usual to keep his routine. Appreciate any advice.

Try to stagger feeding i.e do the baby first so you can be with him 100% when he's eating. Then you can give him attention and remove stuff if he's about to throw it.

He's doing it for the attention.

Are you using a suction bowl? If not then try one designed for 3-4 year olds as they’re more difficult to peel off. Also try putting the food directly on the tray of his highchair - seems to help my DS

Put it right on the high chair tray, its more difficult to throw

As soon as one thing is thrown, get him down and say you are all done. You can always do a ‘second dinner’ an hour later as he probably wont connect it and think he is beijg rewarded

Dont react, it becomes less interesting for them, and then after dinner say you cant play because you have to clean up the big mess, if you can get him to help cleaning up the big mess

@GrumpyHoonMain yes we have strong suction bowls, he pulls them off 🙄
