my dd will only sit on training seat, what do I do when out and about?

My dd is nearly 3 and is doing quite well with toilet training. She sits on the toilet with a training seat at home. My problem is that she is frightened to perch on a big toilet if we go out and I'm not sure what to do. I gave her loads of reassurance that she wouldn't fall in and that I would hold her tight but she refused to sit on it. We went for a little walk around town yesterday and ended up taking the travel potty and the training seat with us which seemed a bit ridiculous. Also, she tends to sprinkle like a fountain over the front of the seat, is this normal? I think it is because she isn't sitting up straight because she likes to see if any wee is coming out. Any advice would be gratefully recieved.

I had both problems with dd! I bought a foldaway toilet seat, called a "toodle-loo", which I carried around in my bag until she got more confident on the big toilet seat. It folds small enough to fit in a not-too- huge bag!

DD also always sprinkled the front of the seat as she was looking for the wee coming out! Got round it by barking "sit up, head up" every time she went and after a while she stopped doing it.

Good luck!

I wouldn't want to be sitting on a public toilet seat either.

I usually hover my little boy over the loo when out and about, he thinks this is great fun.

Thanks bobsyouruncle, I will get a toodle loo, a perfect solution
