11 month old refusing bottles

Hi all

I'm wondering if my 11 month old is telling me she needs/wants to drop bottles. She has a morning one of 7 ounces (6.30am) has breakfast between 7/8am of weetabix. Usually has a 5 ounce at 10.30, lunch at 11.30, bottle at 2.30 (7punces) dinner at 4 and bedtime bottle around 6 (7 ounces)

I know she's due to drop them as she's getting older and eating more she does also have a few snacks throughout the day so she's eating more. She's been refusing her 2.30 one or just taking a couple of ounces so thought about cutting that one. However today at nursery she's refused the 10.30 one and I didn't give them milk for 2.30 as we decided to cut it first time today.

I'm worried now as she hasn't drank the 10.30 one! Does this sound normal for her to be refusing them? Does she just need the morning and bedtime one going forward?

When did everyone else's babies drop their feeds? She's 1 early may.

Thanks!

If she is refusing bottles it is time to stop bottle feeding. Mine had stopped before then but all babies are different.

As long as she is eating well and drinking some milk, she'll be fine.

My DS was down to 3 bottles by 10mo and to 2 bottles (first thing and bedtime) by 11mo. He was eating all his meals and I just swapped mid morning and afternoon bottle for a snack instead.

@Plumtree391 yeah I was thinking this! We had already dropped some ounces on her 10.30 one but its been a good few days now so I guess she's trying to tell me something!

@Chickenlickeninthepot ah that's good to know I think she may be dropping the middle 2 soon and just doing morning and bed. Thankyou :)

She only needs morning & evening now.

Mine were down to 2 by 12 months

Emmaaa1990 · 14/04/2021 13:42

@DarcyLewis yeah it's looking that way, Thankyou :)

@dementedpixie makes me feel better knowing others were like that, just don't want her to be hungry but I guess she would eat/drink if she was! Thanks

By 12 months they need 300/350mls of milk which can be as a drink or in food like cheese, yoghurt, cereal with milk, etc

Emmaaa1990 · 14/04/2021 14:23

@dementedpixie yeah I can just substitute with dairy snacks 👍🏼 Thankyou

My DD is 1 in early May too (2nd) and she’s only on 3 bottles a day now.. she dropped 1 around 8.5 months so I moved her 3pm one to before her nap so she has milk at 7, 1:30 and 6:30 now... although I think she might be ready to drop another soon as she’s being super fussy with them Hmm

This is super interesting as my 10 month old is doing the same! What are good mid morning or afternoon snacks to offer instead? He isn’t loving food all the time to be honest it depends on his mood. Sometimes he completely refused and spits it all out! I don’t want him to be hungry or dehydrated

Emmaaa1990 · 14/04/2021 17:05

@Vicky1989x oh so close mines 9th may! It's weird isn't it they are just suddenly telling us like they don't want it anymore. I feel like 3 is the way to go altho she would have only done 2 today by the time I get her home for her bedtime one. Eats all her food and snacks at nursery well she has today so maybe she doesn't really want milk anymore!

@JKDcot I give my little girl crackers, chunks of cheese, fruit lots of different things, just to try and keep their calcium up if they are having less bottles! So weird isn't it! I worry about the hunger and dehydrated thing too, she will drink water but not a lot! So hard isn't it!
