that i buy my dd 9 a new nintendo ds console when she busted the original one in a rage cos she lost at a game of supermario? maybe ditch the mario game altogether and get a new game (she has others around ie nintendogs) was thinking about My Pet Dolphin as a game. Oh its so hard!! she was absolutely gutted when she broke it, she wasnt addicted to it, just dipped in to it here and there, but being a red head she has that tiny bit of a quick temper.

Crazy idea to buy her another. If she really wants to replace it help her save up her own money to buy one. Can she earn money from jobs around the house? Will she be getting any money as Christmas presents?

IndulgeMePlease · 11/11/2007 21:52

Could she somehow 'earn' it back. Not in a sending-her-up-the-chimney sense but by doing chores or forfeiting part of her pocket money?

That way, she'd learn that there are consequences to ginger strops (I speak from experience ) but wouldn't be paying for her mistake for ever and ever?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 11/11/2007 21:53

Could you find a way to get DD to pay a proportion towards it, perhaps by saving out of pocket money/doing special jobs ?

I wouldn't replace without something along those lines.

yeah she will be getting money from one of her nannys so thats a good idea, she could put that towards it and there are plenty of jobs to do round the house that would earn her money to save. i will put that to her. its so sad - there are all these new games out and she cant have em! talking of ginger strops - do they get worse in the teenage years? ............ am scared!

Err, yes, ginger strops are bad in the teenage years. And the Univeristy years, the working years, the antenatal, postnatal and breastfeeding years, the tired years...

Still, if your DDs ginger strops are anything like mine they will be intense, volcanic but short-lived, and then she'll be sweetness and light until the next STUPID THOUGHTLESS EEJIT doesn't do exactly what she wants!!!!

PeachesMcLean · 11/11/2007 22:41

"being a red head" and "ginger strops" WTF???

IndulgeMePlease · 11/11/2007 22:43

I take it you are of auburn tint Peaches?

dd666 · 11/11/2007 22:43

im have ginger hair im afraid my temper has got worse with age and my fuse is shorter and to top it off i have stubborn streak too poor dp lol!
i think she will only learn to respect a new ds if she has had to save for it that way she might be a bit more carefull with a new one

PeachesMcLean · 11/11/2007 22:48

No I'm not. I just don't like stereotyping on the basis of what someone looks like.

No i wouldn't buy her a new one. She needs to learn to look after things.

IndulgeMePlease · 11/11/2007 22:56

'Twas tongue-in-cheek, no offence intended. Apologies to all the mellow and calm redheads out there...not that you're going to strop at me anyway

PeachesMcLean · 11/11/2007 23:03

No problem. Actually I'm more than capable of being stroppy but you probably noticed that

DynamicNanny · 12/11/2007 09:43

DON'T DO IT!!! I know that if I had broken something deliberatley or not (just having been in a mood) and I got a new one - it would make me loose respect for my parents - they have always told me that money doesn't grow on trees that I couldn't have this, this or this just because I wanted it yet I do something stupid and I get a new one ... it doesn't follow anything they have taught me.

I broke it - I live with the consequences or try and pay towards it - I think using her christmas money to pay for it sounds like a good idea. Maybe if she gets £70 in money/vouchers you could give her the extra money although I just bought a nintendo DS for £56 off ebay.
