How many burps does your baby do? Seems never ending here, advice needed please!

Have a 4 month old baby girl who has always been a windy baby and also suffers with reflux. Bottle fed.

We wind her every 40-60ml (usually has 160-200) so about 4 burps during feed and then will wind a bit more, especially if whinging/squirming in bouncer.
Sometimes she will still be uncomfortable and get burps out for hours after feeding, especially her teatime feed. If she was napping then she can wake crying and when sat up out of sling then will often do a burp and settle (all naps contact naps in a sling so is at incline, crib also raised at one end for night time sleep).
Can be upset with bottom wind also, especially if don't spend all the time we do winding. Tried not winding throughout feed and just at end - never again, extremely upset and uncomfortable for hours after as think had worked it's way down too far to get up properly.

So generally 5-10 burps following each feed, can be more, some big, some small but generally at least 5 reasonable ones to me (FTM). Can be accompanied by a posset but not always.

Burps best propped sat up on lap, one hand pressed against tummy and one hand rubbing circles on back at same time for extra pressure. Tiger in tree helps the upset but doesn't get the burps out. Keep upright for 30 mins post feed, often jiggle on our laps for a lot of this as helps work out more burps.

Has the max dose of infacol before each feed. Gripe water doesn't tend to make much difference so really only give it if gets hiccups. Tried co-lactase, no difference. Was on dentinox for first month or so but seemed to stop working so switched to infacol.

Currently on Hipp comfort with Carobel, using size 2 teats and always been on mam anti colic bottles. Don't have variable flow option for mam though did try Avent variflow as compatible but didn't get on with this. Tried size 3 and milk just poured out her mouth. Smaller size would block due to carobel.

Any tips/magic solutions???

Feel like spend her entire wake window winding on and off and then still wakes up crying at least once to burp, if more often then ends up really overtired and then gets hard to know if still needs winding or just sleep by the end... even worse when it's a combo of burps and bottom wind.

Sorry for the essay, getting a bit knackered with all the winding now she's getting heavier! And looks like no end in sight...

Did you find anything that helped your baby? My baby is the exact same!

What are her bowel movements like?

My daughter constantly needs burping (though not as much as yours!) and we find her discomfort is always relieved when she does a poo.

She is exclusively breastfed though, so it's a lot easier for her to poo than babies on formula.

Sorry I never got the notification for your message!

Your baby might have grown out of it by now but what sorted it for us was a combination of:

-Nutramigen milk for cow's milk protein intolerance (still intolerant at 2+y) - this also fixed the reflux, off carobel within a week of switching and bib free!

-Getting her posterior tongue tie revised (was cut at day 11) and lip tie cut with laser, she never latched well even on bottle, and took in much less air after this.

-Gripe water just before bed only to help belly wind in the night.

Hope your troubles are already over though!

Thanks @Ihatewinding!

It turns out she has CMPA. She hates the taste of nutramegin or any formula for that matter so I've just removed dairy from my diet and it's made a huuuuge difference.

Glad you're in a better place, I'm guessing you can relate to my username haha 😅

My daughter is a strange one and wolfed down nutramigen, no need for vanilla essence or anything, she was diagnosed relatively late around 6 months so seemed aware it felt better on her belly, she stopped and smiled 30 seconds into drinking the first bottle I gave!
