When can I take my newborn swimming?

Our family have booked to go away at the end of April and our DD will be 5 weeks old but my DS is 3 and desperate to use the swimming pool. Just wondering if a 5 week old could go in the pool provided it was a warmer temp? NHS website looks like they advise from any age? Any advice would be great.
P.S. I know either me or the kids dad could sit with her and watch but thought it would be nice to all go in together if we could.

As soon as their umbilical cord has healed.

Yes once the cord has healed so 5 weeks would be fine. Try to get a nice thick baby wetsuit though as they get cold very fast. Even in a pool that is warm to us (30-32 degrees) is still cold to them. Unless it is a hydrotherapy pool (36 degrees but usually only in spas or disability homes).

I think it would probably be fine (though personally I wouldn’t want to expose a new baby’s skin to all those chemicals - but then both of mine had eczema). The bigger questions would be will you be still bleeding then (I was at 5 weeks) and is your 3 year old a confident enough swimmer to not need any help. I couldn’t have managed my younger one and my older one in the pool together as I only had so many arms.
