What do your 15-18 m o eat in a day?

I'm not sure they're getting enough food so hoping to get an idea of what other kids eat at this age?
They currently have milk 3 times a day but are milk beasts so would drink it at any time, but I wonder if it means they're hungry?

They're 16 m but 13kg / 2 stone hence me asking for the age range.

My little boy is almost 18 months and he would still have 6 bottles a day if we let him so he's down to a bed time bottle and that's it, it's definitely improved how much he eats. Usually for breakfast he'll have one weetabix or rice krispies or sometimes both if he's hungry, mid morning snack is usually melon/banana, occasionally a biscuit. Lunch is sandwich/toast/soup, sometimes a small handful of crisps, more fruit, yoghurt. Afternoon snack fruit/biscuit, dinner is whatever we're having and he usually eats a reasonable amount. 7oz bottle for bed. I'm not actually sure how much he weighs but he doesn't stop running and climbing! Hope that helps!

SleepingStandingUp · 12/04/2021 17:51

Yes thank you. They're just not great at actually consuming Vs throwing it. One will eat most things just has decided veg sucks. Theo there is really fussy atm. Neither wants to be spoon fed. I don't think we have a v good routine as they sleep have milk first thing then bfast, occasionally a snack but they're in bed by 11 or 11.30 so depends with milk. Up anything from say 1.30-2 so have missed our lunch and aren't overly hungry. They'll do fruit and yoghurt but not much else. Maybe a snack later. They eat with us so a version of what were having but I struggle to get it done before 6 then milk for bed at 7.30.

But I feel like so much god damn food goes up the hoover!!

And the bad water hates the highchair and can get out. So that's nice.

We were still doing milk on waking in the morning until very recently but I've cut this out and it's made a big difference to how much he eats. They don't really need huge amounts of milk at this age so you won't lose anything by cutting it out and seeing what happens. As for throwing food I think that's just one of those things you have to live with! Thank god for tiled floors and glass tables 😅

SleepingStandingUp · 12/04/2021 18:36

He won't eat it though, it's giving me proper anxiety. He's literally thrown everything on the floor and won't eat anything. And then climbed out his highchair cos I can't strap him tight enough. I might sell him.

16 months. He’s on the 50th centile for weight and 75th height.

Breakfast
1.5 weetabix in 2 cups of wholemilk with a dollop of peanut butter and two tbsp of almond powder
Half a banana

Midmorning
Half a cup of blueberries
An oat bar if he feels like it

Lunch
If at nursery it will be a proper cooked meal followed by dessser If at home he usually has a friend egg, some kind of veg, a few bits of toast, followed by fruit

Tea
1/2 a crumpet or fruit toast with butter

Dinner
Whatever we’re having but a smaller portion, followed by 1 orange, 1 apple, and 1 banana

Can you adjust footrest of your highchair? My Ds kept trying to climb out, and now footrest lower he can’t get out easily.

Nah he's sneaky. Pulls his leg up between the bar then uses that to kinda twist and get out. Straps are at full tight and he isn't exactly little.

I Def don't think they're eating anywhere near enough based on @GrumpyHoonMain. What their nap like GHM? I find it such a pain to work around as it's anything from 11 for T2 to 12.30 for T1 then wake up is between 1 and 2.30. next week I'm out 8.15-9 then 2.40-3.45.

I feel like all I do is make food, make them eat, make them sleep.

No milk first thing, porridge with whole milk is a good entry point because it's warm and milky, we batch stew fruit apples/pears with cinnamon/berries etc and he had a spoon of that on top at that age, he now eats that then toast with almond/peanut butter, a banana and then asks for more (2.5) , this morning he had all of that then asked for 'a poachy egg please', he's turned into a bottomless pit.
Are you sure that weight is right? DS is a year older and eats like a machine and is barely over two stone. He's also tall and noticeably heavier than DN who is a pickier eater and a couple of months older.

SRK16 · 12/04/2021 18:55

18 months- weighs about 2 stone.
Breakfast- usually porridge with fruit & half a slice of toast, or yogurt and banana plus toast, or part of a bagel.
Snack- half a kiddie snack bar and some kiddie crisps, raisins..might offer fruit but often chucks it on the floor
Lunch; maybe scrambled eggs with cheese and veg, spag bol, mashed potato with chicken/fish and peas. Lunch is often leftover dinner!
Has a little bit of milk before his nap but not that fussed about it
Post nap snack- yogurt and fruit, maybe toast, maybe a kiddie bar. Sometimes homemade flapjacks or bliss balls.
Dinner; some kind of pasta, risotto, Shepard’s pie etc.
Milk before bed but doesn’t usually drink that much.

I just stopped breastfeeding two week ago and I don’t think he’s drinking that much extra cows milk to make up for it.

He has reasonable portions, but throws food if he’s finished and you try and get him to eat more.

Caspianberg · 12/04/2021 19:01

Ah ok. I’m not sure exactly how he does that but must be a mini hodini. We use the stokke Tripp trapp and it’s tricky for Ds to get out with foot part lowered

Ds is 12 months, if any help. He’s breastfed still and has x3 feeds a days and x1-2 overnight still.
Breakfast - porridge with fruit purée, 1/2- whole banana depending on hunger.
Lunch - 1 piece bread, toasted usually with houmous/ cream cheese. Raw veg and fruit. Yogurt sometimes
Snack - couple baby biscuits/ or 1/2 apple/ or a fruit bar thing
Dinner - eats most things. Tonight Had 1/4 black been quesadilla with 1/2 avocado, x2 cherry tomatoes. Then some yogurt.

He usually naps sometime between 9.30-11.30 for an hour, and then second nap 2pm-4pm ish, sometimes only hour here, today was 2hrs. Bedtime 8pm.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/04/2021 19:16

@KingdomScrolls yup, the lighter on is bang on 13, the other is a bit over. Might be a little variation based on scale differences and obv not seen a HV in over a year but they're little tanks. They're in 2-3 clothes, turn 16 months tomorrow (15 corrected) and although it's a bit long and SOME things are a bit loose, we were struggling in the lower size. They're about 84 cm.

They're not walking yet so I reckon it'll come off once they are. They've focused all their efforts on growth!!

@SRK16 thanks, I Def think I need to get more food in them

@Caspianberg us neither, his brother can't. Also I've looked and they Def don't adjust. Yeah our food looks closer to yours and obv they're older and bigger.

I think we have a distorted view cos DS, 5, is tube fed and a horrific eater. Today o offered him money to try a spoonful of yoghurt.

GrumpyHoonMain · 12/04/2021 19:27

At nursery he naps maybe twice a day, but at home it’s usually 3 times - morning, after lunch, and before dinner. I personally wouldn’t touch his milk. DS is breastfeeding much more frequently since his molars came in, I think the milk gives him some relief from the pain.

Caspianberg · 12/04/2021 19:28

@SleepingStandingUp - mine was an early Walker so I think he just burns off everything as literally wakes up and runs... I have no idea of his weight as he hasn’t been measured since before Xmas. He’s 11 1/2 months, in 9-12 months clothing so he’s probably fairly average. Doesn’t seem particularly small or tall.

I was told as long as your feeding them healthish food, they can’t really over eat at under 3 as will just naturally eat more or less themselves as they are growing and developing lots.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/04/2021 21:14

Once biggest is at school again. I think we need to get back into a routine and increase the food
