Regression after sickness

Hello

DD is 2.7 as has been toilet trained for the last three months or so. She's taken to it really well which has been great, however, last week she got a tummy bug which has meant bad diarhoea and wind. She now refuses to go to the toilet for both poos and wees and today we have had two accidents when out despite having access to the toilet.

When putting her on the toilet she says she is scared of weeing and pooing.

What should I do? Shall I keep her in nappies or continue to have accidents - she's quite sensitive about accidents when we're out and gets upset about it.

Any advice?

Just persevere, be kind, quiet, gentle and reassuring. Don't put her back in nappies.

Thanks - have been trying to be patient with her - its just so hard especially as you know they need to go but won't.

Some success so far today - she refused to go to the toilet all morning - no accidents when we were out then I managed to get her on the potty for a wee before lunch - big cheers and stickers all round

OK - its nearly a week on and so far we have had one wee on the toilet/potty.

She seems to understand that its not ok to wee in her knickers as she says she likes weeing on the carpet etc. She still says it scares her.

Am trying to be as calm as possible with her, but I know when she needs to go and its so frustrating as you know that within minutes of telling her to go to the toilet or saying its time to sit on the potty, and her refusing to go, that she will then have an accident.

I'm pretty sure she's holding it in til she has a sleep as she wears a nappy then as she won't urinate all morning til after lunch when she goes to sleep.

We've made a new sticker chart (which worked when I started training her) and have bought some new stickers, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Please help!
