Hi I'm a ftm and my son is 6 months old
He sleeps great in his swing even when it's not on but once we put him in his cot he constantly bangs his legs and keeps waking up
Last night he was up every hour and wanting to stay awake its do hard as no one is getting proper sleep
I was thinking of getting a cot nest to see if that would stop him fidgeting and banging his legs and make him feel more secure
Was thinking he maybe dosnt like the openness of a cot

Anyone any tips really dont know what to do tia

Also he constantly bangs his legs even when hes fell asleep ....my partner has adhd and his mum said he used to do this as a baby could this be a sign he also fidgets loads and runs his feet he always has to have socks as hes rubbed his feet that much his grazed his toes and made them bleed before

A tightly tucked in sheet could hold his legs still.

(Remember "Feet to Foot" when using sheets)

Roll up a muslin, put it into a U shape and tuck it under his knees like a kind of half baby nest. It's safer than the nests as nothing around their head, and a friend of mine swears by this (her child was much later diagnosed with ADHD but that's more anecdotal since you mentioned it! It's probably not related to that.)

You could also try sightly tilting the cot by putting books under the legs on the head end. Not too much as they can slump down which is risky as it compromises their airways, but if he likes the swing the angle might be the issue.

I wouldn't try to immobilise his legs as it seems to be the movement which is a kind of self soothing he's doing and it would be a shame to prevent him from doing that.

Do you carry him in a sling at all?

He’s just a 6 month old, don’t start trying to diagnose ADHD! It’s so normal at this age.

Have you tried a sleeping bag? Dd used to sleep so much better in one. I’d be wary of a cot nest because of the suffocation risk.

Baby sleeping bag. They do fidget a lot, but if he's happy and not crying just leave him to it. Mine used to lie there for ages chatting away and wriggling about, I learned to sleep through it If she was content.
