Panicking!

Took my eye off my baby for a minute, came back to find half a sequin torn off a bow next to her mouth. Now I'm worried she may have swallowed one! They're small and she may not have..

Should I worry?

I wouldn’t. They’re tiny and won’t dissolve into anything nasty.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 02/04/2021 11:23

It will just come out the other end.try not to worry

Spudbyanyothername · 02/04/2021 11:24

Not to worry, if it’s just a normal sequin it will just sparkle up the poo.

No it will come out the other end. Now please remove all sequinned and beaded clothing and accessories.

I went to A&E as I was worried.

Feel like a rubbish mum especially as when I was gifted the Teddy I told my husband she couldn't as with it. Just didn't think :'(

My kid ate a live woodlouse when he was a crawling baby. I was too far away from him when he spotted it on the hall floor and popped it in his mouth.
I think the only things to worry about are choking sized objects, batteries, magnets and chemicals. So make sure the detergent cupboard is locked.

Thanks everyone.

I just feel like crying. It's a lonely time raising a baby during covid (I'm shielding)..and I just took my eye off the ball for a few seconds

What have A&E said? I can't imagine they'd be too concerned about half a sequin?

New2020 · 02/04/2021 15:49

No they didn't seem concerned. Checked her over and told me to keep an eye on her. I called 111 and they wanted me to take her to a&e.

FTM worrying about everything :'(

They said they had to do a health visitor referral so now I feel extra useless

Th always do a health visitor referral any time you take a child to A&E. it's completely standard so don't feel like that's a problem. It's probably a good idea to take that oooof to talk to her about your anxiety though? Why are you shielding? Can you start to open that up soon as I'm sure seeing other people would help you massively.

Your child will definitely be taken away by Social Services for swallowing a sequin.

Sorry Grin

DD ate a googly eye at the same kind of age. Her next poo winked at me.

She's 15 now and fine :)

Aw, be kind to yourself, it's hard going with a first baby and I can't imagine how much it is intensified by shielding. Being a new mum is really overwhelming and you are learning all the time. Your baby will be fine with the sequin.

I name changed to come and tell you that I almost (as in had the phone in my hand) called 111 because once I noticed that THREE of my baby's eyelashes had fallen out at once, and were lying gently on their cheek when I went to get them from a nap. It made me panic so much - I couldn't stop worrying about what it could mean!!! I think many new mums go through the same thing, it takes time to learn that they are pretty resilient, even when they are tiny.

Thanks take care x
