When did your DC respond to their name

DS is almost 10months old and doesn't respond to his name. At about 8months he did appear to but I've noticed lately, especially when I'm behind him he doesn't make any response when I start calling his name, even when I say it over and over, or start saying it in a silly tone of voice. I do tend to chat to him alot so I wonder if he thinks "she is off rambling again and my toy is more interesting so no need to turn around". Sometimes he surprises me and responds but not sure if its coincidence
Wondering if other people have found the same? I've considered glue ear and I'm thinking about getting the GP to check him out.
He seems to have naturally waxy ears, I don't know if that's a sign of glue ear. With covid I don't particularly want to be going to the gp surgery unnecessarily

You're welcome @Moriarosesbebe I meant it!!! You're proactive, informed and involved so your ds is a lucky child.

Try not to stress, and just enjoy his company and loving him. You hit the nail on the head that all babies are different, your ds is a little person with his own personality and his own way of doing things.

Thank you to everyone for replying. These days is especially great to have a place to vent worries and get a bit of perspective

@brokengate I know its so frustrating. Its great knowing about the leaps but if your baby isn't ticking every single box in the exact way Google tells you its just another thing to stress about. Best of luck with the leap!

@mySocalledloaf that does make sense. Personality is bound to come into when skills develop. He is definitely a laid back chap, easy to make smile and laugh. We also call him so many nicknames although I'm trying to say his actual name more

@nineyearsapart He definitely can be a ignorant little sod at times (throwing the carefully prepared meals straight on the floor for example!) Grin Thats a really good point about motivating him to respond. I think I would probably be less likely to respond to my name if it took my focus away from something I'm enjoying for no good reason.

Thanks again all. Its surprising how a few kind words and a bit of real life advice on the internet can help a stressed out mum.
