12 month vaccinations

Hi all,

DD had her 1 year vaccinations on Tuesday, I didn't know it was 4 injectionsSadbut anyway she had them and seems fine. A bit clingier than usual but other than that, fine.

But, on her right leg where one of the vaccines went, it is really red and seems to be spreading. I'll attach pictures but I'm not sure if it's normal or if I should ring 111 and get it checked? I don't want to ring them if it is normal as I know they're always ridiculously busy. The nurse said some swelling and redness may appear but it's just the spreading of it that's concerning me.

Hoping someone on here could give me some advice.

Thank you!

Just to add, the left picture was taken at 11am today and the right picture was taken about 20 minutes ago.

If your unsure then ring 111. For now draw around the redness in biro so you can definitely tell how much it’s spreading

I would phone 111 - it’s never a bother and you should always get these things checked out. I promise you, they won’t be annoyed or anything that you called!

holliem91 · 31/03/2021 19:59

Thank you both. I'll give them a call now and see what they say.

I've spoke too them. They said they want me to consult a pharmacist for advice within the next 12 hours. They gave me the number for one so I rang them straight away and he pretty much said that it's normal, to keep an eye on it, give nurofen to reduce redness & swelling and if it gets worse to ring the surgery where she had them done. Will see how it looks tomorrow and if it's still red and spreading, I'll give them a call to get her looked at.

I'm unsure if 111 wanted me to take her down to the pharmacist in person but the one I rang closes at 9pm and the pharmacist I spoke too didn't say anything about wanting to look at it so I'm assuming hopefully it's all okay and normal.

Baby got injections 2 days ago this photo was taken this morning. Other 3 jabs were little dots but this ones looks similar to your baby's. I was told if this happens it's bruising. Hope this gives you some reassurance but if your unsure seek medical advice rather than mine xx

holliem91 · 01/04/2021 12:36

That is very reassuring @mummylifeofsmilesandtears thank you for that. It doesn't seem to have spread this morning so fingers crossed it starts to disappear from now.

DS was similar after his 12 month jabs. Went down after a few days but he had a lump under the skin for weeks and he didn't like me touching it so obv sore. Think it's quite normal. Keep an eye and if you're worried call and speak to nurse at gps they'll be happy to check.

GrumpyHoonMain · 02/04/2021 17:17

It’s normal. DS had some swelling after his but it faded within a week. Just keep an eye out for infection
