Is it the baby who has long hair or you? Smile

altlife · 30/03/2021 08:15

Could you tie it back? High bun on top of head?

Dry shampoo for those days you're too tired to wash it. Never used it myself mind, so no idea if it's good for baby gunk Grin

Yup. Tied it back for years.

Amrythings · 30/03/2021 08:17

I have a lovely short bit at the front where DS managed to yank a handful of (tied up!) hair out at the roots when he was about eight weeks old. No idea how to stop them, but sympathies!

HamFisted · 30/03/2021 08:17

Yeah, it's tough with tiny babies. I came to the conclusion early on that this is why women tend to go for shorter styles in their thirties and forties.

MrsTophamHat · 30/03/2021 08:19

I always have a hair tie on my wrist for whenever I go near my baby! I've had to retrain myself to wear it down again for work after maternity leave.

greyandcream · 30/03/2021 08:35

Bald baby. Maybe he’s jealous Grin

Yeah I should tie it up really but hair bobbles and clips give me a horrible headache - I’ve no idea why as when I was at school I always had it up in a ponytail and don’t remember it bothering me but it really hurts me now!

They're not called "mum buns" for nothing!

TigerBeetle · 30/03/2021 08:38

Yep - hair up and no dangly earrings!

Exactly Grin
BiBabbles · 30/03/2021 08:52

I started to use scrunchies, as like you - typical hair bands were hurting my head for unknown reasons.

Fireweeds · 30/03/2021 08:54

Or try two bobbles (half ponytail, then scoop the rest into a bun helps distribute the weight)
I also used to get the hairdresser to shave up to the hairline on the back of my neck as mine used to specialise in grabbing the wispy bits.

BertieBotts · 30/03/2021 08:56

Sounds like your ponytails are too tight if giving you headaches. A loose messy bun is more comfortable for me.

Livpool · 30/03/2021 08:57

I used to put a clamp in my hair to just tie it up

BaronessBomburst · 30/03/2021 08:58

Long hair is easier than short as a bun leaves nothing to grab. Mine spent two years in a bun with a scrunchie.

JudgeRindersMinder · 30/03/2021 09:02

I still wear my hair up more than down and mine are 23 and 18 😂

CorpusCallosum · 30/03/2021 09:41

I get the ache too - hair is waist length thanks to no cuts since Jan 2020 🤦‍♀️

I have about a dozen of these all over the place, clipped to my collar, belt loop, bag straps, coat pockets etc so I can always reach one. Typically I pop it in a bun and one keeps it up but if it gets heavy you can take it down for a break, do half up half down or whatever - super useful!

For other with the weight problem- if you can french plait that keeps the short front bits out of the way and it doesn't hurt as much if they swing on the braid.

Imicola · 30/03/2021 16:21

I got my hair cropped when we reached this stage. It was great, nothing for her to grab, super easy to wash and no need to blow dry, plus with a proper cut it looked much smarter and styled than it ever did when long, with zero effort.

CloudFormations · 30/03/2021 20:35

Yup! My hair has been in a bun for the last 4 months for this exact reason Grin
