Poorly baby tips

Any tips on getting through the night with a poorly 10 month old with a very stuffy nose?
I had to cuddle him to sleep and he's woken up less than an hour later and is very sad so I've given him calpol.

Any other tips and tricks to get us through?

Snuffle babe vapour rub. Olbas oil on a tissue in the room? X

@Boho7
I have nothing like that unfortunately.
It might just be a night of sucking it up and stocking up on bits tomorrow

I always put some books under one end of the crib to raise it slightly.

Do you have a defuser to add some moisture to the air?

Calpol vapour plug in and snuffle babe. Nasal drops (if old enough) and aspirator. Can anyone get to a supermarket or pharmacy for you? Please be careful to only use the children’s olbas oil if you go for that; the adult one is too strong.

If not, sit in bathroom with the shower on and the steam might help.

Keep him as upright as he’s comfortable with, with lots of cuddles.

Sometimes when they were little and ill, DH and I would resign ourselves to doing shifts through the night. It’s tough!!

You can try raising the end of his cot a bit (if he’s in a cot), put books under one end. You can give both paracetamol and ibuprofen if you feel he needs it. Lots of fluids and cuddles. And are you breastfeeding? A squirt of milk up the nose can help, works in the same way as the saline drops you get that get everything flowing. And during daytime take him in a steamy shower room. It’s not fun. Get thee to bed now so you can get as much lip in between wake ups! Although I often find it hard to sleep when they are poorly. Good luck.

Steamy shower, just stand nearby, hold them upright to fall asleep. I find that if I give DD something she likes to eat she chomps away and has to breath through her nose and that means she clears it a bit and can sleep better. A diffuser or calpol vapour things. Lots of coffee for you.

If you don’t have a calpol diffuser yet (get one at some point, they’re ace 😊) you can put a small dish of water somewhere near them or on a radiator.

As others have said, Calpol plug in, snufflebabe rub and saline drops were my saviours when that young
