What do you put your baby in to keep them safe when you shower after they outgrow the bouncer?

Been having baby on the floor under a gym or in the bouncer by the bathroom door but he's rolling all over the place and soon will have outgrown his bouncer (6 months). What's good to buy to keep them safe in the bathroom/hall where I can see what he's up to but he can't roll/crawl away? Thanks

I mostly showered before DH left for worki n the mornings/when he was around once we reached this stage, or when she was napping. Odd occasions for a quick shower I'd put her in her cotbed with toys and drag the cotbed from our room slightly into the hall so one end was outside the bathroom door so she could see me. I couldn't leave her in another room as she'd just start shrieking as soon as I would leave a room so this was less stressful as she'd play/watch me for 5-10 mins like this before she'd start whinging.

Fisher price sit me up seat is the best baby buy ever for this purpose!

Curious - what is wrong with playpen? I had one for my Dd and intend to use it when my twins are big enough. It’s just a safe place for them to play so why is it bad?

No issue with playpens that babies/toddlers are happy and safe in.

Safety issue if they can climb out though.

And totally useless for my particular baby, who would've just screamed until she was sick. Which does not make for a relaxing shower!

@BlibBlabBlob

I had a true 'velcro baby' and she screamed and sobbed even in a bouncy chair on the floor right where she could see me.

I bought a Connecta baby carrier in the 'solarweave' fabric, which doesn't get harmed by getting wet frequently and dries really quickly. Strapped her to my front and we washed together, sounds mad but I could get to all the bits of both of us that needed soap fairly easily and it meant not having to try and wash her separately at another time of the day.

Extreme solution but it worked really well for us!

Bless you. I put my DD in the shower with me once she was sitting, just had a none slip mat and tried not to get shampoo in her face Grin

I initially used a fisher price giraffe sit me up chair. But when my DS got too big for it, i used the travel cot. I still do now even though he is 2 and a half.

Jumperoo great for this

GrumpyHoonMain · 26/03/2021 23:35

A cot is the best but only if it’s a fabric sided one. If it’s a wooden one then they’ll soon figure out how to climb out even before they can properly cruise.

I used to put mine in a jumperoo outside the shower used to work well till about 1

I have a built in playpen in my living room. It's a plastic one off eBay that came in section and we screwed it in place and covered the floor in foam jigsaw pieces and cut them to fit perfectly and then screwed more or along the walls so that they can't bump their heads badly if they fall.
We then filled it was large toys that were baby safe and not a choking hazard.

I'd usually put them in there with cocomelon or something similar on to distract them and then quickly shower with the door open so I could hear if they cried.
