So I feel awful haven't been able to sleep for weeks my son has tooth decay on 3 of his front teeth there is 1 tiny holes the rest is enamel erosion he had a dentist appointment the dentist looked and just said he will refer him to the dental hospital, his diet is good not a big milk drinker more water eats all day everyday more cheese and yoghurts than fruit tho isn't a sweet tooth child much prefers crisps etc his brother is the opposite with perfect teeth we brush twice daily its a struggle and we've tried songs electric toothbrushes etc it used to be him clean them(chew brush) then we do a quick once over now he's pinned down for them done, i am devastated I can't look at him without being upset , has anyone been in a similar situation did the referral take long ? What happened to the teeth I don't want them pulled 😕

I'm a dental nurse and seen many 2 year olds with tooth decay. The chew on the brush wasn't effective and although you gave them a quick once over wasn't getting anything off. I get you feel bad we all would. It's good you're now brushing his teeth properly. I have a 20 month old I also have to pin down to brush his teeth. He hates it!

I'd like to add at the dental hospital if they suggest to pull them tell them absolutely not. If they are not causing him any pain they can either be filled or actually left depending on what your actual dentist recommends.

One removed the teeth will shift so don't agree with it unless needed. He's so young to be without teeth.

I say this as we had a few in our area who wanted second opinions as the local dental hospital was going to pull them. We filled the teeth.. was a challenge on some 2 year olds but it's better than them having no teeth!

Crisps are apparently dreadful for teeth. My DD (8) has 2 cavities & we've had to cut right back. She missed 2 appointments due to the pandemic & there was a nasty surprise when we eventually got her seen.

Crisps and crackers are fine only when you have an effective tooth brushing teeth. I suggest using the blippi toothbrush song - not just for him but you too. It shows you exactly what actions you need to follow to brush effectively. I’d suggest doing it 3 times a day if you don’t want to remove the crisps from his diet.

Thank you for taking time to reply , I will definitely look into blippi song I am trying to cut as much as I can out but I work full time so his nana is to easy and gives into crisps etc, I will increase brushing , I will definitely not be wanting them extracted they cause no pain most people only notice if I pull up his lip to show them , I would like them filled if the NHS won't do this can I go privately? I don't want them to get any worse as I no thats when infection can start am so scared incase he gets in pain or they turn to little stumps or something
