Hi,
Our LO is 13 weeks old tomorrow, she was slightly unsettled last week and I put this down to a growth spurt.
She had her jabs on Friday and seemed quite sleepy but since then she has been so unhappy! She had generally been a happy baby, she would get restless/unsettled when she was tired which after a cuddle she would fall off to sleep but she has been screaming when unsettled and seems more unhappy than usual, it is generally more around the time she is tired but even after calming her down she will nod off for a few moments and then wake up screaming again... could this still be a side effect from the injections she had Friday?
I do playtime/interact with her when she is awake but I try my best to keep an eye out for tiredness signs and then try to settle her for a nap but she just starts to go crazy!!
Please help! Im worried I've lost our happy baby and she is going to be this way now 😢

I'd say its definitely possible, but I'm only basing that on how my DS was after 12m 16m and 1y jabs. He was pretty much fine on the day of injections, and then just utterly miserable for a week afterwards. It massively affected his sleep as well, just like you say, he would just abruptly wake up, crying and you couldn't console him. He's the same when he is under the weather so that's how I knew he was feeling unwell after the jabs. And then of course because he's not getting his nighttime sleep, he's miserable during the day, no appetite etc so it's a viscous circle! She'll get over it though and will be fine. Maybe try and take her out in a car if she sleeps well there? Or the buggy etc? Just to help her get some rest. Obvs if it goes on for more than a week, I'd look for another possible cause and speak to GP. Good luck!

Sorry that's week, not months 🤦🏼‍♀️ 12w / 16w

@eensyweensySpider
I called the HV just after I wrote this in the hopes id catch her before she finished.
She also advised she could be unsettled for upto a week. They gave me a piece of paper that I'm sure said they could have side effects 24-48 hours after.. if it stated on that that she could be unsettled for up to a week etc I would have been more prepared?
We went out for a long walk this morning, and then this afternoon I wrapped her up and popped her in the buggy and we sat in the back garden for a while and she had a good sleep!
I guess its just cuddles, not too much over stimulating playtimes for the next few days?
8 week jabs she was fine with really, just cuddly/sleepy that day but not like she has been the past 3 days...

I think the older they get the worse it can be but I think it's often the luck of the draw. DD had really sore legs after her 12 week ones (you couldn't touch them without her being upset) but was absolutely fine after her 16 week ones. I'd say plenty of cuddles and calpol if she seems in pain.

Cr17 · 22/03/2021 18:58

@Potterythrowdown i do have calpol to hand although I don't think she is in pain or that her legs are hurting as she hasn't made that obvious when we've been changing her? she is just so cranky.. today the worst so far!
Once she goes to sleep she will have a good sleep on me but as soon as i put her down, she wakes up and gets upset again, eventually she settles once I hold her.
I don't know whether to try giving her some calpol before bed just to see if it settles her?

I'm no expert and not medically qualified but for me, if I've tried to settle mine for a decent period and nothing I do is working then I usually try a dose of calpol. DD is my second so I'm probably a bit more relaxed about dishing out the pain relief than I was with DS. Hope she feels better soon.
