Recurrent plugged ducts anyone?

My baby is 4 months old, ebf, and I’m really struggling. I have been having relentless plugged ducts since he was 5 weeks old, I don’t think I had a run of more than 3-4 days without one. Tried every remedy in the book, fixed the LO’s tongue tie, spoken to several lactation consultants, nothing seems to help. They are becoming increasingly more painful, often bilateral, and more difficult to shift. Struggling to sleep even when the baby sleeping cause it’s painful to lie down in any position.
I am not looking for advice, just a bit of a handhold...

Hi, didn't want to read and run. I had blocked ducts/pores for ages. It culminated in a massive milk blister and when that finally opened (cue intrigued but grossed out squeezing in the shower!) I didn't have them again! I started to always feed her first from my problem side at that point though, which I think is what did the trick. Sounds like you are having problems with both sides though? Wish I could be of more help! Flowers

Hi @ohmysense , I found your post whilst searching about recurrent blocked ducts and it’s similar to my own experience. I was wondering if you would be happy to share what happened after - did you discover the root causes and find any other solutions to the blocks in the end? Many thanks in advance !

No advice, but lots of sympathy. Breastfeeding can be shit and massively overrated.

Hi. Loads of sympathy to you, it was a nightmarish experience. I never found a cause and nothing really worked much. It started improving around 4 months during the sleep regression (the baby woke up every hour and wanted breast which was horrible for sleep but good for preventing plugs). And then the plugs went away by about 5-6 months. I think when lactation matured my breasts stopped overproducing milk. Breastfed until ds was 2 years old in the end.
