Random qu but I will be doorstep dropping off a pressie for friends new baby in the next few weeks & was thinking I could also leave a little something for her DS3 (my godson). Is an Easter egg a bad idea?! Im not sure if hes too young?

I think an Easter Egg would be nice.

HardcoreParkour · 19/03/2021 20:13

Lovely gesture, I'm sure he'd be thrilled!

GiveTheGirlAGun · 19/03/2021 20:16

Get a little one and an outfit. He won't quite get easter, but I am sure the outfit will be gratefully received. Unless you know the parents are anti chocolate, then there are other non chocolate egg related things out there.
From mrmory DD at 3 would only touch the freddos out of the pack and not the actual egg bit. Fine by me, I can always find a home for easter egg.

A 3 year old would love an easter egg.

Theelderscrolls · 19/03/2021 20:19

Yeah go for it. I have a 3 year old and a baby and would think it was nice.

Caterina99 · 19/03/2021 21:20

Yes my 3 year old would love an Easter egg. Or a chocolate lolly or something small. I’d just get one of the little eggs though, nothing giant.

(If she didn’t want it all then I’d definitely help her eat it. One of the perks of parenting)

I think a little one; I’m only planning to get my DD a little one

user1493413286 · 19/03/2021 21:35

Just to add it’s a lovely idea to get the 3 year old a present. My DD was nearly 3 when DS was born and I really appreciated it when people got her a little something as well as the baby as otherwise she felt quite left out

YellowPurple · 19/03/2021 21:38

How about kinder eggs? They do big ones or packs of 3 small ones...

CeibaTree · 20/03/2021 20:44

My eldest had a Thomas shaped one for his first Easter egg when he was 3, he LOVED it. You can buy them from M&S :)

notmethenwho · 20/03/2021 20:57

I used to give a nice book instead of an egg. Maybe a small egg and a book?

Cheesypea · 20/03/2021 20:59

They had some cute Peter rabbit toy/egg packs in sainsbury's.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 20/03/2021 21:06

A little egg or lolly plus this book -

Perfect for a 3 year old.

CaptainSpirit · 20/03/2021 21:07

My 3 year old would love you if you bought her an Easter egg! Smile

I've gotten her a few small Easter-themed gifts (Playmobil suprise egg type thing, Peppa Pig book and a little craft) as well as a Disney Princess Kinder Egg and a chocolate lollipop.

PrincessTuna · 20/03/2021 21:09

Oh yes an egg would be a big hit with a 3 year old!

JustAddCoffee91 · 20/03/2021 21:12

My oldest has just turned 2 and he loves a chocolate egg for sure! He's got 2 of those little cheap pound ones and some new pjs & slippers (all he's wearing these days)
My 1 year old has got 1 little egg and pjs... you sound so generous though OP! What a lovely thing to do x

ColdCottage · 20/03/2021 21:20

I'd check if they give their three year old chocolate yet. I didn't give mine chocolate until they were four. A little gift is a nice idea. Maybe a book?

dementedpixie · 20/03/2021 21:24

Yes an egg would be a nice gift

mrsmacmc · 20/03/2021 21:26

For our nieces and nephews we get them a small egg and pjs

merryhouse · 20/03/2021 22:10

It would certainly be Unusual for a three-year-old not to have an easter egg.

If the three-year-old is the oldest of their generation in a family with well-separated generations, or without close family nearby; if the family don't socialise much with other families with toddlers; if the child is at home most of the time; then it's possible that the child's parents may have not introduced them to chocolate by the age of three.

They really would be on the extreme end though.

(I was thought a bit odd for not introducing chocolate till S1 was 2. - though we do have a photo of him examining an easter egg aged 16 months, which I had actually forgotten about!)

ColdCottage · 20/03/2021 22:30

@merryhouse apart from being the eldest child none of your observations would fit our family and we waited until four to give chocolate so I don't think you can generalise like that.

I think when it comes to any sort of food for young children it's always best to check with their parents first as it can easily lead to an uncomfortable moment if it's handed over and the parents have to take it away. Regardless of if it's a choice by the parents or dietary requirement for health reasons.

I do agree it's harder when you have a second child.

halfpasteleven · 21/03/2021 06:01

Kinder chocolate is a good option- lots of sizes to choose from.
Lovely idea not to leave him out now that he has a new sibling.
