Just made chickpea curry, can 13 month old have whole chickpeas or need to be cut?

I only relised after I added them. Should I cut them up before giving them to her or is it okay?

Can you maybe mash them a bit?

GrumpyHoonMain · 16/03/2021 14:06

Depends on teeth and the kind of chickpea. DS could manage whole ‘kabuli’ chickpeas by 10 months. But he still can’t manage Indian ‘kala’ chickpeas which are really hard.

I assume at that age it's sbout the choking risk?

mash them with a fork?

Dd can manage them but she doesn’t like eating them

IpanemaNova · 16/03/2021 14:09

I would definitely mash them.

fivelemons · 16/03/2021 14:10

Yeah, just squash them a bit.

KihoBebiluPute · 16/03/2021 14:11

Definitely mush them a bit. Yes they would be a choking risk at that age but cutting each one individually would take for ever and a bit of mushing to make sure there's no whole pea should be fine.
