At what age did you let family members have your baby overnight?

DS was almost 4 month when he stopped out. He has stopped out weekly since he was 9 month old.

Ours were terrible sleepers and we weren't exactly inundated with offers! Around 2yo I think.

3 months for a night.

My DD first stayed with my mum when she was 18 months.

Unfortunately no one in their right mind would be willing to take the 1 year old twins. If anyone was willing I would throw the pair of them out of the car as I accelerated around the corner 🤣

We'd usually stay with the grandparents as a family because of distance. Also mine were such bad sleepers without breastfeeding they'd probably end up taking shifts wheeling them round the block or walking them up and down all night.

My grandson started staying with me at 4 weeks.
My granddaughter started at 9 months. Different mothers, different parenting styles.

Hohoholymoley · 15/03/2021 20:49

At about 3 months, he goes every Friday. He has his own room there and is adored by his lovely grandparents.

PeacefulInTheDeep · 15/03/2021 21:04

My DS was about 14 months the first time he stayed with my parents. He loved it and so did they! He had sleepovers with them a couple more times before lockdown put the brakes on it.

He is a good sleeper, they are local and we saw them weekly, so he knew them well. And most importantly, DH and I were both happy with it.

CreosoteQueen · 15/03/2021 21:11

I’m thinking I will start letting mine around the 9/10 month mark but he’s only 3.5 months now so will obviously depend on how I feel nearer the time!

supersonicginandtonic · 15/03/2021 21:19

All mine have had sleepovers with my mum from 6-8 weeks old. She loves having them and they have a great relationship.

SnuggyBuggy · 15/03/2021 21:26

I'm also not going to volunteer to have any baby grandchildren for sleepovers. My own babies have given me enough trouble.

Potterythrowdown · 15/03/2021 22:05

9 months - we went to a friend's wedding and snuck off early to make the most of a child free house. We both fell asleep drunk in our clothes in different rooms 🤣🤣🤣

Dancingalong · 15/03/2021 22:12

From about 5 weeks 😳 They live the in the same village and the kids have their own bedroom. They probably stay over once every 6-8 weeks in usual times and love it.

RoseHarper · 15/03/2021 22:26

Around 7 months I think? GP were desperate to have him overnight and we had an event. He knew them very well and had seen them weekly since birth. I'm of the view that its lovely for grandparents to have that bond, and if we ever had an emergency situation them I knew DS would happily stay with them overnight. It's different if there are trust issues. DS and DD loved a sleepover up until last year and they are now 14 and 12. Covid put a stop to it.
