Am I doing enough with my baby?

My DD is 8 1/2 months old. We play with toys on the sofa most of the day, a mix of sensory toys and electronic toys. I talk to her constantly and sometimes we'll play on the floor, I read to her at times but she usually just wants to eat the books! We walk occasionally but there's no where nice to take a pram. We do dancing and listen to music sometimes too.

Am I doing everything I can for her? What else can I add to stimulate her and help her development?

Sounds like how I spent my time at home when I had babies (pre-pandemic). Things you could replicate at home:

Baby sensory - lots of ideas on Pinterest
Baby playgroups - obviously very hard to replicate; all I can think of is whacking The Baby Club on telly. My under-1 yo niece has just started nursery and was terrified of the other real life babies having never seen one before in real life 😂

That’s pretty much it. Blow some bubbles. Play some nursery rhymes. You’re doing great!

That sounds like plenty - really, try not to worry about it, everything is fascinating to a baby and if you are interacting a lot it is enough, and honestly 'some' is good enough, baby won't lose out compared someone doing 'more'

As above poster said, sounds like you are doing a great job. Smile

Sounds great!

If you fancy mixing it up I can recommend Mini Music Makers on YouTube - new class every day.

Sounds like you are doing plenty. If you haven't already you may want to Introduce tummy time. Could also try banging two toys/objects together, passing a toy/object from one hand to another. Nursery rhymes with hand actions. Xxx

Sounds good to me. Re the books - we have a lot of board books and lift the flap books which DD (7 months) loves interacting with (and trying to eat, obvs). We also watch Baby Club on iPlayer so she gets to see other babies (and we get a break Blush).

Some of my antenatal class do "messy play" (cooked spaghetti in a tuff tray etc etc) but it seems like an awful lot of work, and imo weaning is basically messy play anyhow..
