Hello. I was just wondering how other parents are finding it coping with children and a course at the same time? I've done part time evenings courses before, but I am really wanting to do a full time course, which will be 2 or 3 days a week. My dd's just started full time school, which was why I didn't want to start this September just gone as I wanted to make sure she settled in well first. I also work, but I know I'd be able to change my hours, as they are quite flexible here, so I can still have some income coming in. I was just wondering am I going to be out of my depths if I try to take it all on, or are you able to cope well? Also I have the difficulties of how my dd will get to school as I'm a single parent.

Many thanks. xxx

If I've got this right you will be working part time as well?

IME it requires discipline. You have to set aside time during the week that you will use to concentrate on your work. And be aware that if you have a large amount of work due in at some point you will be doing work every hour you have free . Also try to set aside more time than you think you need and if you can allow time for deadlines, that factors in some extra for illness, childcare problems and any other emergency that crops up.

As a student parent you can get extra money from the student loan association. You can get Parents learning allowance and some extra money for books/materials.

HOw many hours a week will you be required to be in for? And waht will you be studying?
