How to get calpol into 8 month old

My 8 month old refuses to take calpol and will arch her back / twist around / clamp her mouth shut to escape it. I don’t want to pin her down and force it on her but is there a more gentle way to get her to take it? She’s often sick straight after if we do manage to get a tiny bit in.

For context she’s a bottle / dummy refuser. Won’t accept a spoon at all and when we tried mixing in some vitamin drops with some water to give her she vomited.

I’d be grateful if anyone has any ideas we can try!

I have a 9 month old who isn't great at calpol and just had a horrendous bout of teething when 3 came through at once! He also needed antibiotics which he hated even more. Only way we managed was lying him down on a pillow , have the syringe ready but hidden away from his sight, then sing some songs or play with a toy for a few minutes until he went to put said toy in his mouth then bam! Squirt down the side of his cheek. He never knew what hit him. Worked for us for 3 times a day for a week when he outright refused it otherwise.

I blow on his face and he swallows. Make sure you aim the syringe to the back of the inside cheek as it's less of a shock than straight down

I have a spoon/syringe refuser too (he had months of a foul tasting medication via syringe when he was very young) and the GP has prescribed him suppositories. I haven't had to use them yet thankfully as the GP did mention how expensive they were so I am dreading asking for another 'script.

When ds was younger, the nursery had success by putting the syringe in his cheek at the back of his mouth and blow on his face. It was revolting antibiotics, so I can totally see why he refused them. You can also mix with yoghurt or a drink in a sippy cup if they will take that. Is there a reason for multiple doses, or just a one off?

My third was a calpol refuser, he’s better now. But I saw the recommendation on here to use the syringe to squirt inside the cheek but outside the teeth and gums (as pp’s have said) and it worked very well. Do it in about three squirts.
