Please recommend me some nappies.
DS is 4 months, 7kg (15lbs 6) and in size 3 nappies. He constantly ends up wet after an hour and even worse, I regularly end up with a wet stomach while feeding him. Envy

Morrisons and aldi's nappies are really bad. Pampers even worse.
I tried going up a size but they gape on his legs. I am making sure that things are pointing in the right direction but it's constant, he went through 6 lots of clothes yesterday.
Please help.

Have you watched nappy fit videos on YouTube? Is his penis definitely pointing straight down? If yes and yes, how much fluid is he drinking a day?

It's much more likely to be a nappy fit issue, but worth checking as there are some conditions (mostly very manageable ones) that can make a child much thirstier and therefore wetter than average.

Lidl 👍

Boots own brand nappies worked best for mine.

I think they go through phases, my DS did. About 4-6 months a lot of leaking and then again around 8/9 months. The only nappies that worked for us are either Tesco nappy pants/ or pampers nappy pants. Normal nappies don’t work for him now either at 1. Stuck with the pants! GL

Baublebox · 13/03/2021 15:23

Thanks @OverTheRubicon I haven't watched videos but will have a look. His penis is definitely pointing down.
It's difficult to day how much he is drinking as he is mixed fed. 4x6oz bottles plus breastfeeds but these are short and I wouldn't say that he drinks more than I would expect.
Nappies tend to be very wet at the front and quite dry at the back. I never had this problem with dd. Grin

When my eldest was a baby we used Huggies (can you still buy them?) or Tesco. My youngest wore Aldi and got on fine.

Baublebox · 13/03/2021 15:27

Thank you for the suggestions everyone else. I will get some of each to try.

Maybe it is s phase @ThatsTheTea. Now I think of it, I do remember DD having more leaks when she was in size 3s but nothing like this.

My baby is the same weight as yours (but only 11weeks) I've got him in size 4 nappies as the 3s didn't fit round his waist. They definitely hold more liquid going up a size. DS's penis goes to the right so we always get a massive bulge on the right and sometimes leakage too as it's not being evenly distributed across the nappy. Girls definitely don't have this problem!

I use pampers baby dry as other nappies feel stiff and uncomfortable.

Tangledtresses · 13/03/2021 15:30

The active fit pampers suited my boys

needadvice54321 · 13/03/2021 15:35

It's been a long time since my children were in nappies, but lots of the children that I care for in nursery wear the little angels range from Asda? We never seem to have any leakage issues!

msatlantis · 13/03/2021 15:46

Couldn't find nappies to suit my eldest DS overnight. I ended up sticking a tena lady pad inside the nappy and that solved the problem!

Mummysgonetobed · 13/03/2021 15:46

I recall size 3’s being a nightmare for mine as well. I used rascal & friends from Tesco or pampers but the pull ups as they fit better.

Twobrews · 13/03/2021 15:46

Try buying some reusable nappy covers to put over the top.

Funkypickle · 13/03/2021 15:46

Pampers active fit all the way. I also had a very skinny ds and the nappy would gape around the thigh. My sister recommended turning the back band inwards by about half inch to an inch. Worked like charm only time we had blowouts or leaks after was when he needed to size up. Turning the band inward also had the added benefit of of catching any poosplosions and stopping them from going completely up his back.
Good luck.

polkadotpixie · 13/03/2021 15:49

I switched to nappy pants at size 3, the Pampers ones. Much better than normal nappies

Baublebox · 13/03/2021 16:17

Thank you all again. Lots to try. I will give folding them a go too.
The tenna lady idea made me chuckle. It will be a good alternative of we can't get nappies to do the job.

Try putting a wrap (usually used on re-useable nappies) on the outside of the disposable. You can use the same one for 12 hours.

@Baublebox I had to switch at size 3 as Aldi’s seemed to become absolutely crap at that size! Morrison’s/Sainsbury’s were also awful for us, both normal and nappy pants! The only ones I’ve found to hold it in (at least for the most part) are the pampers/Tesco nappy pants. He leaks still very occasionally but we’ve recently tried other brands again and they don’t work still. Pampers are more pricey so we try and use tesco in the day and the pampers at night.

Not sure why at certain times he seems to wet through but didn’t last too long!

LBB2020 · 13/03/2021 20:22

Asda or Aldi work well for us

Carolina24 · 14/03/2021 03:16

I totally understand if you don’t fancy trying them, but reusable nappies might assist. If you use Terry squares, there are different folds which can help with boys’ wetting to the front. The ‘wolf’s head’ fold, for instance, gives you several layers of nappy at the front so it’s ideal for boys. Terrys are also cheap, so not a huge upfront investment like some reusables.

Appreciate not everyone fancies reusables but happy to answer any queries if helpful!

longtimelurkerfirsttimeposter · 14/03/2021 03:20

Yes to size 3 causing this issue with us as well. As I recall 4 onwards were better and we just went with the 4 plus from the off for extra absorbency
