Is he actually ready to train?

Have to go on the school run now so will try and help when back.

hi Emmlee

My DS1 was like this, petrified of sitting on either the toilet or potty. I just left it and figured that one day he would no longer be in a nappy. When he was 3y2m, a friend of his (a girl!) asked him why he still wore nappies. That evening, he said "Mummy, I think I'm going to try and sit on the toilet." I tried to be non-chalant about it and helped him onto it. Within 48 hours, he was toilet-trained!

I guess what I'm trying to say that in most cases, children eventually decide they want to use the toilet. I know it can be hard, though, when their peers are toilet-trained. Hang in there!

he knows when he needs to go as he does tell me, and then stands holding himself and crying, sometimes even when he has a nappy on.
i like the idea of leaving it up to him, maybe this is the way i should go as i am starting to get stressed! are there any tricks or special toilet toys on the market that may help? or are they a waste of money?
thanks.

Keep your money.

Take him shopping fro big boy pants and talk to him about how he would like to progress.

I didn't start with my eldest until 2 and 11 months.
