Hopeless son - accommodation ideas - help needed

Hello

I have a brother who has mental health issues and has generated masses of debt. He hasn’t paid any rent and is being taken to court to evict him. There is a charity trying to help him but he may end up very rough place potentially around dangerous people.

My parents and I are struggling to know how to help. My mum has bailed him out financially many times, each time without achieving any change or benefit...he’s absorbed nearly £20k.

Now we just want to make sure that he has a safe roof over his head. He seems unable to cope with any level of responsibility, like paying bill. Accepting who he is ...does anyone have any experience or advice on how to provide a way of accommodation for him?

My mum is considering buying him a flat...maybe this is the best option?

Difficult position here, he’s mid 20s, serious MH issues, vulnerable and totally hopeless. How to give him a sustainable accommodation?

Would supported living of some sort be best? If a charity is already involved I imagine they know what is available in your area but there may be other options you could research . Such a worry for you all Flowers

Will your mum be paying for the bills also? If not, then you're likely to encounter the same problems re bills again.

If hes got such severe MH issues that he cant function in society id suggest he needs bigger support than his family and a charity. Is he under any MH NHS (or private) services? Maybe they'd be able to help in terms of appropriate accomodation?
