Hi all,
First time poster here.
This is my daughters second period but I'm so anxious with her being back at school tomorrow.
Shes only year 5.
She's not readily wanting to talk about them.
I feel I should speak to school and let them know that its happened in case of any accidents and also to have separate toilet time to change etc but my daughter doesn't want me too.
I just wonder what others would do?
TIA

@Getmebacktowork88 modibodi are the only ones my daughter feels fully secure in. On a heavy day she'll wear a pad as well then remove at lunch and wear just the pants for the rest of the day. On other days just the pants are fine. They are a total game changer

I decided not to mention it to school for now and just talk to my daughter after school to make sure she was able to manage ok.
I did take the advice of putting extra pants etc into a small case and she was happy enough to do that.

Ah glad you've got period pants. They are so excellent 🤞

bjjgirl · 08/03/2021 20:04

Have you got a link for the period pants?

Getmebacktowork88 · 08/03/2021 20:24

@bjjgirl
www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZFW27W9/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_fabc_PJTY44411ZR3QWRYM3NM?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

These are the ones I got. They do all different ones on amazon though.

Was she alright OP?

Getmebacktowork88 · 10/03/2021 07:15

@Cavagirl Yes. Shes been fine, she said they have bins and she's managed to change at break and lunch time.
The pants have been a god send. Last month she was leaking on her bed and clothes but this month we've had none of that.
I feel so much better about it all.

Really nice to read Grin
I wish they'd had period pants back in my day!!

Personally, I'd respect her privacy. If she's asked you not to tell school, please don't.

TBH, she's young, so her period is unlikely to be heavy. So she probably won't actually need to change a pad while she's at school anyway.

For those months she may start while at school, just make sure she's kitted out with a pencil case with a couple of pads and maybe some spare knickers. And it's not the end of the world if she wraps a used pad in some loo roll and disposes of it at home. It's a bit of blood, not nuclear waste.
