4mo chatty nightfeeds

Hello

I’m looking for advice with me DD 4mo. When I put her down after her night feed (drowsy, nappy changed and content), she will start being really chatty and it’s unbearably annoying. Really long yelling of continuous vowel sounds in the night, getting increasingly loud and sometimes ending in screamy yelpy emphasis.

She will stop it if I pick her up but start again once down again. It goes on until she’s been awake for a full awake cycle.

Have tried patting and shushing with cot next to me. She spits out the dummy. During the day she is getting better at self settling and it’s just at night she does this.

Any ideas? It’s so loud it wakes my husband in the spare room and I worry about the neighbours.

Any advice really appreciated....why is she doing this and how can encourage her to stop??

Have you tried holding her until she's asleep properly and then putting her down? It doesn't sound like she's received the memo about self-settling yet Smile

Hi Bunny, thanks for answering.
She fights being held it’s like she wants the space. She half settles and is more comfy when put down and then changes her mind and starts singing. So, on repeat I will pick her up to make her stop the singing, or shush pat her with my hand in the cot lying next to her, for about 45mins until she suddenly stops and decides to self settle back to sleep. I also try talking back to her a bit. I just don’t know what she wants! It’s so weird.

Hi! Personally I would try not to chat to her at night, during nappy changes feed or putting back down. That way she will learn that night time is quiet time. Is she becoming too stimulated during the night? If she is chatting then she is happy, I'd ignore all noises unless she is distressed, and then handle that in which way you normally choose.
Good luck tonight!
