Child proofing tv area

Our 9 month old is increasingly interested in yanking wires. We need to child proof our tv area which is currently a tv stand with open shelves that have a DVD player and games console on them.

We need some sort of screen I think. Fire guards seem a bit much. Ideally perspex? Surely someone else has had the same problem. Any idea what I would google?

Other option is getting a new tv cupboard but they’re expensive and I can’t be arsed.

Which bit do you need to childproof? We have a similar set up and DS was trying to pull our TV over. We moved it in front of something very heavy and have attached it was straps to that so it can't hardly move. I'm less fussed about cables or if DS breaks DS's x box but so long as he can't pull the TV over, I figure it's okay.

We are attaching ours to the wall. Plus low tv unit underneath with doors for storage should mean he can’t get too close and all cables hidden.

To protect the wires you could use a cable tidy. Not the solution you were looking for but something you could order from Amazon as a temporary measure until you figure out what you want.

Slightly different but same principle: our 8.5m old loves ripping my bloody cheese plant leaves, it’s huge and been lovingly cared for for years!! So I’ve bought the Amazon play pen thing, the big garish pink and blue thing. It’s great, I’ve boxed off the plant and made a little ‘stay there I need to answer the door’ pen.

Admittedly don’t go for it if you’re in anyway stylish.

The tv I’m not worried about tipping really as it’s attached to quite a heavy stand. It’s more yanking the wires and having an xbox fall on his head. Though good point about breaking said xbox...!

I wanted to use the XL Baby Dan gate as a room divider but the wall to wall distance was just too big around the TV. Could you do it at yours? It’s a sturdy bit of kit and you can unscrew and use it to guard the stairs when he’s a bit older

You can sometimes buy play pens that secure to the wall, but that you can take apart to make smaller. We had a 6 sided playpen from Aldi, we used 3 sides as a fire guard attached to the wall either side of the fire and then used the gate side and 1 other side to block off the conservatory. we would wedged in front of the door to the conservatory but could still get through the gate.
