BEDTIME

Hey everyone!

This is just out of curiosity but what times does everyone put their children to bed and how old are they!!

My 13 year old (very nearly 14) has just recently been given the responsibility of choosing her own bedtime as long as she is in bed and relaxing for 9pm. This is because she was constantly expressing how she feels like she should be able too as her friends do. I personally feel like this was the right decision as she is a rather responsible child, and whenever I've gone in to check on her she's always been fast asleep, which is usually at around 11:30pm. I honestly feel like since I've given her this responsibility too, our relationship has been so much better as her bedtime was what caused a war the most.

My youngest is 7, and I usually put her to sleep at around 8:00pm. She sleeps through until 6am and is always up for the day!

So just out of curiousity when did you decide it was okay for you child to choose their own bedtime? X

Ds 14 and dd 17 are chased to bed when we go so can be 10.30pm or sometimes later. Doesnt sound like your dd is choosing their own bedtime if 9pm is when you specify them to be in bed

For Primary School age it's 7.30pm and high school age it's 8.30pm. But I live in Australia and we get up quite early in the morning. We are up at 5.30am. Daycare drop off is 7am and I'm at work at 7.30. I finish work anytime from 2.30pm.

I think bedtimes are quite individual to each family and their lifestyle. If you are digging tired, grumpy kids out of bed each morning and it's a battle to get them out the door on time then an earlier bedtime is needed. If your kids wake up well rested and quite early then a later bedtime could be trialled. Do what works for your family.

@dementedpixie she doesn't have to go to sleep at 9 she can watch tv, go on her phone, read a book until she's tired Smile
