Hi all,

We’ve been using Aldi nappies since day 1 and couldn’t praise the size 1&2’s enough however not so impressed with size 3 (for 9-20lb babies I believe). We are having frequent leaks at the moment - seem to spend most my time cleaning poop out of bodysuits! So we want to try a new brand! Any recommendations would be appreciated! Also interested to see if anyone else having issues with Aldi nappies after size 1 & 2?? Thanks! Xx

We use Sainsbury's own brand, never leaked on us!

SpaceDoubt · 01/03/2021 10:57

I always used pampers pure and then moved to pampers premium nappy pants when he was mobile. Never ever had a single nappy leak! When I tried cheaper brands I always found they leaked or smelt funny.

Lidl nappies are brilliant.

Loved Aldi 1&2. But also found size 3 leaked and fitted poorly. I’ve been using Sainsburys or pampers since, no issues.

sproutsnbacon · 01/03/2021 12:11

Sainsburys are really good elasticated across the back. I find asda good as well.

JJxo · 01/03/2021 21:46

Thanks for the recommendations - Sainsburys mentioned a few times so will try those first

Are you sure he is wearing the right size?

JJxo · 02/03/2021 08:42

He’s approx 15lbs so I would imagine so as they still seem on the bigger side rather than smaller. I have read some reviews on Aldi website which seem to express similar issues!

Reuseables!

ChocOrange1 · 02/03/2021 09:36

I think they're more likely to leak if they're too big. Worth trying a different brand though.

We use aldi ones and haven't had an issue but we mainly use reusable and they never leak. But they're a big outlay in the first place.

GBA123 · 02/03/2021 14:10

Hi @JJxo so funny you’ve written this as we’re experiencing exactly the same! Size 1 and 2s were brill but had so many poo leaks with the size 3. Told myself he was maybe pooing more or it had changed but having read this, think I will also consider changing!! Thank you for posting!

JJxo · 02/03/2021 14:29

@ChocOrange1 Thank you for the advice - they’ve never seemed too big but may just be not the right fit for our DS. I am thinking about trying reusables for our next child. PS your username has now got me craving chocolate orange!Grin

@GBA123 we were the exact same, we thought it was due to the force or when he pooped at certain angles . We’ve actually ended up trying Asda (size 3) today and so far they have survived the poop test! Going to grab a pack of Sainsbury's next time we pass our nearest one!

Haha sorry about that, guess what I was eating when I changed my name Grin

If you're considering reusable for a second child it us really worth considering for the first. You get twice as much use out of them, making it far more cost effective. And if you start at 4 months then you don't need to buy newborn ones you could just go straight for size 2 / BTP nappies

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 02/03/2021 14:51

We use Asda Little Angels. Not too expensive and have had very few leaks. DD2 is 5m. We used them for DD1 too.

JJxo · 02/03/2021 16:17

@ChocOrange1 Good point, I’ll look into it, thank youSmile

@JJxo Fingers crossed they do the job better than the Aldi! I’m going to go for pampers I think as we use the pull up ones at night and rarely have any leaks with those, so hoping the standard ones do as well during the day!

Rubiales678 · 02/03/2021 20:30

I vouch for Sainsbury's and my 8 month old is currently in size 3 we rarely have leaks . I think they are very well designed if you closely compare to other cheap nappies . Like actually open it up and look at the folds and gussets etc

Patty101 · 02/03/2021 22:14

I was a nappy snob with my first baby, and would only ever use Pampers. Was Pampers again this time round up until about 3 weeks ago, when the nappy explosions were really getting me down because they were so frequent.

Decided to try Tesco's own brand and can't believe how much better they have been for us. Hardly any leaks and saving a small fortune too. Just wish we'd switched sooner.

Margo34 · 03/03/2021 01:53

@jjxo reuseables don't gave to have a big outlay all at once.

It only takes one reuseable to get started.....if you like them you could build your nappy stash gradually to spread the cost. And there's also no reason you can't do a blend of reuseables/disposables together either. And they're so much prettier to look at on a baby's bum!

rankoutsider · 03/03/2021 02:01

I think boots superdry nappies are amazing. Followed by sainsbury's then Pampers

110APiccadilly · 03/03/2021 08:05

We use Lidl ones, no issues so far. DD is 3 months and about 11lb so has only just moved into size 3, but no leaks so far, and when I change her in the morning I can see there's still some capacity in the naps she's had overnight if that makes sense.

110APiccadilly · 03/03/2021 08:06

nappies not naps!
