Toys and books for 5 month olds

My ds is coming up to 5 months. I'm wanting to get him a few new toys to help keep him entertained. We have a couple of the Lamaze toys and lots of books, but he's not really sure what else he might enjoy at this age.

If anyone has any recommendations of things theirs kids love/loved at that age that would be great. Or activities their babies enjoyed in general.

Stacking cups are brilliant. Sensory things like space blanket or shaker. Mine loved a small pop bottle filled with water and a handful of sequins. Coloured ribbons. They don't necessarily love toys at that age, so I would gather some household objects with interesting shapes and textures for them to explore

He will love your face! Look at him and sing to him. Play peak a boo. If he makes any noises, repeat them back to him so he can see he is getting a respond from you. All so good for development 😊

I always recommend a set of stacking cups. He will enjoy handling them and looking at the different colours. Later he can use them in sand and water play.

Thanks for the recommendations. I think I'll pick up some stacking cups. I did pick up these and they are a hit.. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B071WSC9RT?psc=1&ref=ppxpoppmobbbasin_title

And we are loving the 'that's not my...' books too, and where's Mrs tiger. I'm looking forward to the library opening again so we can read a bigger variety of books.

These are good, there are a few other titles in the series, the textures are fun - Never Touch Series Collection 4 Books Set https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/9526533771/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_MV4858BYG3R2Z1KZKS9N
Treasure baskets are good for exploring, just put a bunch of random objects in a basket/box on the floor and let them explore. You can mix natural things (a stick, a shell, a leaf, a feather etc) and household bits (a whisk, a sponge, a hairbrush, a plastic cup, a wooden spoon etc). Just make sure you supervise and that they are safe to go in little mouths!
