Pocket money for DC?

My DDs are 12 and don't get pocket money, more of chucking them £10 here and there when they meet friends etc.
I'm thinking pocket money is probably more sensible, to help with teaching them to save and understand the value of money.
I want them to earn the money rather than just give it to them.
Should they complete set chores for X amount or should they earn X amount per chore? How much is acceptable?

How much depends entirely on your financial situation. We are very low income with minus values zero disposable income. Mine get £5 each pocket money. But £20 a week would be entirely reasonable too, if you had the spare cash.

Mine have set chores that they do on Saturday morning and get the money straight afterwards
DC1 - Iron Dad's five work shirts, clean kitchen surfaces
DC2 - vacuum every room in house, empty every bin in house, clean bathroom fully

I agree with @FATEdestiny to only give what you can afford, although maybe keep it slightly lower as they are 12 the older they get the more they may ask for.
Growing up my mum used to give £10 a week to my sister and £5 a week to me (my sister was 6 years older than me) my sister would have to do the washing up every evening and I would have to dry up, my mum would give us our pocket money on a Saturday. When my sister got to 16 she didn't get her £10 any longer so mine got increased and by the time I was 14/15 my parents could afford to give me £20 a week although my mum upped my chores, this was 20 years ago mind...
I think its a great idea to have a set amount a week and they have specific chores that they do, if its a case you need extra things done and have the extra cash put a price on that extra chore and they are paid the additional at the wkend?
I have a newborn now but this will defo be something that we will encourage when she's old enough 🥰
