Toddler having huge tantrums for breastfeeds. What do I do?

A couple of months ago my 21 month old started having huge tantrums every time she wants to breastfeed. I am happy to feed her, but sometimes I need her to wait a bit while I finish what I'm doing. Her tantrums are so huge. She headbuts the floor, hits herself in the face and gets into such a state. It is heartbreaking and I have ended up feeding her in response. This seems to have reinforced the behaviour and made it worse. Has anyone else been through this? Is my only option to ignore it, so that she gets the message that it is not going to result in what she wants? It's so difficult as she has a new baby brother, so she has to wait for me more often now. The behaviour started before he was borth though. Any tips on how I can tackle this gently, but effectively would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Not been through exactly this op but I find Janet Lansbury has great advice for all things toddlers. It could be a case of emphasising, 'it's hard when you have to wait/ you really don't like waiting but I'll feed you as soon as I've done x'. And prevent her from hitting or hurting herself by gently holding her arm. Or give her a pillow to hit if she feels angry. I wouldn't feed her until you're ready to, as hard as it can be when you want to stop a tantrum and you also have a tiny baby.
