What to do with 3 month old baby?

I have a 13 week old baby and would like some ideas on how to occupy him. Current lockdown is not easy and I haven’t checked if they are running but I’m not entirely comfortable in joining classes like sensory, swimming etc. We’ve got a play gym but wonder if that’s enough? Do belly time. Also a vibrating chair but don’t really turn it on as he doesn’t like it and the couple of toys that dangle over seems to make him angry so I take it off after a few minutes. He’ll sit in it while watching me do chores and I narrate what I’m doing. What kind of toys? Activities? Games? Any suggestions please?

Baby massage might be one to try. Take a bath with him and float some toys near him. But really just enjoy this bit. He will soon demand entertaining!

At 3 months they don't really need much. A walk and seeing the sun through the leaves would be interesting for them.

CBeebies has a programme called the baby club which has some good ideas as well.

You can do zoom baby sensory and bookbug sessions

Dont feel the pressure to do too much, everything you do is enough for babies as it is sensory overload. They also like just generally doing things with you. Mine loves a hoover or hair dryer haha

If you want some ideas we do -

Baby sensory with foil blanket, noisy objects etc.
Bouncer chair and playmat with toys
Massage and baths
Singing songs with arm and leg movements
Tummy time
Walks in the pram

Gosh, baby's still tiny. Don't sweat it yet!
Honestly in another 3 months or so you'll be having to find entertainment. For now baby is happy just being near you, watching you move, hearing your voice. A daily walk or sit in the garden. Naps.
A little bit of music. A story.
That's enough for now, you're doing great.

Thanks all for your suggestions, it’s just that with my dh at work and not having to meet friends and family so much it’s feels pretty lonely with time in my hands with baby day in day out and he’s staying awake for longer periods, so sometimes I’m thinking what do I do? So I just have to take it nice and easy...

There are lots of ideas for sensory play, you could either do a google search or going a fb group. Colours, simple shapes, lights and songs are popular and good for development.

At 3 months his attention span isn't much so don't expect to 'play' for any length of time and don't beat yourself up if he's not interested.

Messy play is great when they're a bit older and can grab/hold things, water, foam, ooblek, paint etc are all good and easy to do. I found it much more enjoyable once they could sit up and hold things.

I have a 5 month old and we’ve been doing online baby massage and baby sensory classes. We’ve been following “the sensory sessions” online which have either live or recorded classes which last about 30 minutes which I would definitely recommend.

Reading books, singing nursery rhymes and going for walks are always a safe bet.

Good luck! x

My 15 week old has a rocker with dangley toys which he loves, a doorframe bouncer which he loves even more 😂 and a playmat with dangley toys, we also do tummy time, bubbles, nursery rhymes, touchy feely books, walk in the pram or carrier, some times I just lay him on the sofa and I play with him and make him giggle, or when he's getting tired I lay him in my arms and talk softly to him and he coos back. There's loads you can do 🙂 they have such short awake windows at this age so it shouldn't be too hard to entertain them.

Well so far today, we've been to the drive thru Starbucks and watched the latest episode of Drag Race UK. Clearly winning on the parenting front here!

Day to day we do play mat time, games of peekaboo, singing (usually DS3 "performing" his favourite songs - poor baby!) and she seems to enjoy story time when I read to DS. I did baby sensory & baby yoga first time round so I've got some ideas from there that we can do as she gets older.

I'm in the same boat only mine is now 7 months. We've had a whole 7 months of this, and I've mainly been taking her for really long walks, as well as reading.

Online baby classes were good, they gave me some structure in my day and something to look forward to! The app ‘Mush’ has free ones as does the Facebook group ‘BNB Online Baby Classes.’ They both have virtual coffee mornings too if that’s your thing.
