4 month old head control

Hi my daughter is 4 months old (well 19 weeks on Tuesday) and I’m just a bit worried about her head control. She can hold her head up well when on tummy time but when I stand her up or sit her up her heads leans forward slightly, like her chin is pointing downwards to her chest. So I suppose rather than her chin being at a 90 degree angle it’s at a 45. She can move her head around steadily though and follow an object with it. It’s just the forward slump I’m worried about. Does this sound normal or something to be worried about? Thanks

That's normal I think, they like leaning forward and don't have full torso and neck control but if you're worried check with the health visitor or gp

Take some videos and send to gp

Either will reassure it s fine

or can refer to a paediatrician / physio for assessment

I think that’s normal at this stage. My dd is 18 weeks and does pretty much what you describe. Would not worry about it but you can always check in with GP or HV. All babies are different but eventually they all reach their milestones in their own time.

Hey, I was wondering if you would be so kind of how your little one is doing now? We have a hospital apportionment for my almost 5 month old in a few days as her head control just isn’t great. Similar to what you’re describing. I was wondering how you were doing. I hope it’s just a small delay and will maybe just need a wee bit physio. I think mine might be cause by torticollis. All the best x
