Any suggestions? I thought Pop Up Pirate would be ok but it says 4+ on the box? Also heard good things about Candy Land and Sneaky Snacky Squirrel.

Tummy ache - Orchard Games, I think. Also Shopping List.

cheesebubble · 20/02/2021 18:31

Try the Haba range, it's German.

Tempo snail, little orchard etc x

Lots to choose from in the Orchard range.

Worth a look at the Orchard Toys website - we've got bus stop, but it might be for slightly older children

Bollss · 20/02/2021 18:34

Anything from orchard games. We've got 3 or 4 different ones, shopping list, pairs, dominoes...

Bought them on offer in aldis random aisle for about 4 quid each I think.

BikeRunSki · 20/02/2021 18:34

Incy Wincy - from Orchard Games
DS and I played this for hours when he was 3. He didn’t like the “surprise” element of Pop Up Pirates.
Hungry Hippos was good too, but check out Orchard Games, their games are age rated and are generally excellent.

BikeRunSki · 20/02/2021 18:35

X post with many!

The best game we have is Max the tomcat. Can get it from myriad website, I think that's the only place that sells it but we got it after rave reviews. It's a cooperative game which works really well for my daughter as no winner or loser. You have to get 3 animals home without max the cat catching them. It's quite strategic but am extremely simple concept.

Can't recommend it enough.

How patient is the three year old?
Games like Junior Monopoly and Ludo/Frustration will probably be ok. Snakes and Ladders. If they are ok at losing.
We had a Gruffalo game, and Yeti in my Spaghetti as well.

Orchard games are brilliant.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 20/02/2021 18:43

Early Learning centre games were also good, if they are still available

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 20/02/2021 18:47

We have the Peppa Pig balloon match game and my 3 yr old loves it! I actually have fond memories of playing the Miffy version myself as a child so it's a definite winner! You can probably get a non Peppa version if you're lo is not a fan. It is a good game for teaching the basic skills of turn taking, dice rolling etc

Toocold · 20/02/2021 18:51

Also Orchard Toys, Spotty Dogs is good for counting and there is a Dinosaur game which is a bit like the shopping list game.

whiteroseredrose · 20/02/2021 18:57

Another vote for Orchard Toys. Good value and my DC loved them. The age on the side is only a guide.

Lulu1919 · 20/02/2021 20:24

Anything that entails taking turns and counting ...also colour recognition

ChaBishkoot · 20/02/2021 20:30

Peaceable Kingdom has some cooperative games. Try Feed the Woozle and Pick me Up Piggy.

This game, mine could play just after 2. www.amazon.co.uk/HABA-3147-The-Little-Orchard/dp/B001ELUDP6/ref=asc_df_B001ELUDP6/?hvlocphy=1006886&linkCode=df0&hvptwo&psc=1&psc=1&hvnetw=g&hvadid=310873739176&hvpone&hvlocint&th=1&hvpos&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl&hvqmt&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&hvtargid=pla-563592231599&hvrand=518920407409847673

There is a version for older kids but this is the baby version.

The people who make Sneaky Squirrel have some other games as well. I can't remember their names. There's one with a dog and bones and one with a bunny and carrots. Both can be played by 3 year olds.

They can have a go at playing Dobble (let them win sometimes). Mine also liked simple memory games at this age.

katienana · 20/02/2021 20:36

Lots of toys have age restrictions on but not a problem if you supervise, I guess it's because the swords are small enough to choke on. Pop Up Pirate has always been popular with my bots at that age.
Any Orchard game ought to be a hit, tummy ache, shopping list, bus stop, farm lotto. Also try snakes and ladders but get a simple version not an annoying 3D one.
We have a few games similar to pop-up pirate, Greedy Granny and a pig that eats burgers. All involve counting and taking turns. Hungry Hippos is fun but needs supervision with the little balls.

RandomMess · 20/02/2021 20:40

Noddy merry go round if you can find it!

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 20/02/2021 20:47

My just turned 3 year old loves pop up pirate! It’s easy to follow, quick rounds and exciting for them. So long as you feel they will be sensible with the plastic swords, go for it.

user2021 · 20/02/2021 22:13

Shameless follow!

user2021 · 20/02/2021 22:14

(That's not a game. I'm just following the thread as need inspo for my 3yo, in case that wasn't clear!)

FASDE1517 · 20/02/2021 22:15

Pop up pirate definitely. Dobble is a big hit here. Hungry hippos. And Uno (but I take out all the cards except the simple numbers).

Bubbinsmakesthree · 20/02/2021 22:21

Depending how well your DC tolerates losing it is worth looking for games you can subtly engineer to lose - anything which is pure chance (eg dice throw based) you can’t throw the result.

I like shopping list for this reason as I’ll make sure DS wins some of the time.

Talcott2007 · 20/02/2021 22:24

Dobble Jr is great fun at this age.
Orchard Toys are always a winner for that age - another brand is Janod who do some lovely games too - happy bzzz, acrobats and crazy sticks are lovely and still regularly played in our house 2 years later.

TransientFrog · 20/02/2021 22:33

The Bee Kerplunk Game. This is definitely our family favourite:

Magnetic fishing always goes down well too.
